We were lucky to catch up with Hannah Safari recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hannah, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to hear the backstory behind a risk you’ve taken – whether big or small, walk us through what it was like and how it ultimately turned out.
I took a risk on myself, the person I love, my happiness, and ultimately his too. I made a spur of the moment decision to follow my heart for once instead of my head (obviously my head was involved too). I decided it was time to make a big change in my life. Complete 180.
I was in a slower period with my business and in my life which meant I had extra time to go through all of my belongings. I purged my clothes and household items in one week and donated to friends the items I didn’t need. I sold most of my furniture, my mom came over, we painted the interior of my house, and got it ready to list! As a Realtor, I knew how strong the market was in that moment, so I capitalized on the lack of inventory in Denver and sold my home for well-over asking. I packed what I needed into my car and took off to Tampa, FL. I would not recommend attempting a 27-hour drive in 3 days, in the middle of winter through Kansas, but my boyfriend and I made it, and we couldn’t be happier.
Lucky for me, my job and lifestyle I’ve created for myself allows me to drop everything and jump into a new adventure. I also love the idea of exploring a new city and meeting new people. I can still practice real estate and maintain my business in both Colorado and Florida, and I can enjoy the different seasons through traveling from one to the other. I love my hometown, but it was starting to feel too comfortable and honestly, a little boring. I was falling into a routine that involved unhealthy habits and I wasn’t sure how to break them. This worked! Definitely scary and lots of unknowns, but that’s what keeps life interesting!

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your background and context?
For those of you who don’t know me, I am a real estate agent in Denver, Colorado! I am a Colorado native and love to show clients this beautiful state! Prior to selling real estate, I played Division 1 volleyball at the University of Denver. That means, I am super competitive and love to fight for my clients to get the perfect home for the perfect price. I go above and beyond for my clients and treat them as if they were a teammate on the court. Yes, I would dive on hardwood floors for you.
I love what I do and I think that shows. I’m passionate, detail oriented, and organized which shows from the moment we meet to the final closing table. On a more personal note, I love to cook, entertain family and friends, play beach volleyball, travel, and so much more. I hope to open a coffee shop/cafe in the future and give back to local communities. We need more positive energy in the world and I am just here to spread it!
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
When I first started in real estate, I think I sold 1 house in the first 8 months or so. That means I had little to no income during that time. This was risky, but it paid off in the end because of my resiliency. I continued doing the things that I knew should work and provide rewards in the future, but may not be immediate. I went into it with a mindset of meet people and offer help where needed, not a commission or money forward mindset. I went to networking events all over town, and any opportunity I had to be involved with coworkers at the office, showing homes, going on tours, etc., I took it. I put in countless hours of studying, classes, and meetings just in hopes of helping one client with the purchase or sale of their home. Eventually it worked! I had a few more transactions at the end of the year making it a great start to my real estate career. And it’s only gone up since then!

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
The most important thing to do when starting to build a social media presence is to stay true to yourself, keep it business, but have some personality in there so people know who you are, not just what you do. I think that helped me transition my accounts from only personal to both business and personal. I started a brand for myself essentially and use those accounts to market that! Your friends and followers want to see that you are connecting with the community and staying up to date in the market (or your area of focus). Keep a theme between posts and try to stay consistent with posting as well. Frequency is key, your followers won’t be paying much attention to one post every 6 months. Keep it engaging and information that your followers are actually going to connect with.
