Hannah , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today One of the things we most admire about small businesses is their ability to diverge from the corporate/industry standard. Is there something that you or your brand do that differs from the industry standard? We’d love to hear about it as well as any stories you might have that illustrate how or why this difference matters.

My name is Hannah Roze, and I am the founder and CEO of Plannerd. My journey to starting this business began with my own wedding planning experience, which, like many others, was both magical and overwhelming. My husband and I worked with a fantastic planner, and over nearly two years, we meticulously organized every detail. However, even with the help of a seasoned wedding professional, we found ourselves under a mountain of communication threads, spreadsheets, and to-do lists scattered across various platforms like Excel, PowerPoint, and Word. As our planning extended from one year to two due to COVID, it became clear that managing a wedding was as complex as running any large project, but without the dedicated management tools.
Before founding Plannerd, I worked at Carta, a unicorn startup in the equity management sector. There, I focused on fostering collaboration among diverse stakeholders and realized how crucial centralized information sharing is to the success of high-stakes projects. Drawing parallels from my wedding planning experience, I noticed significant gaps and wished for a hub where everyone involved—family members and wedding pros —could collaborate effortlessly in one space. This inspiration led me to create Plannerd.
At Plannerd, we believe that wedding planning doesn’t have to be synonymous with stress. The planning journey should be as joyful as the wedding day itself. Our platform is designed to serve as an all-in-one toolkit, providing couples and their teams with a user-friendly space to coordinate, personalize, and enjoy every step of the process. By centralizing tasks such as budgeting, guest list management, and team communication, we help couples stay organized and in control.
One of my proudest achievements is knowing that Plannerd is helping to redefine the wedding planning narrative. We aim to make this process not only stress-free but also enjoyable and rewarding, allowing couples to focus on what matters most: celebrating their love with their closest friends and family.

Can you talk to us about how your side-hustle turned into something more.
I started Plannerd during my second year of business school at the University of Washington. After my own wedding planning experience, I became obsessed with understanding why the process was so time-consuming and manual. From my research, it was obvious that both couples and wedding pros were wanting for a better system. This discovery was certainly the first big milestone in validating the demand for Plannerd.
I did not go to business school planning on starting my own company, however, the need for a software like Plannerd simply got under my skin so much that I had to create it myself. Launching the platform, welcoming our first subscribers and getting more engaged in the industry through events like the Seattle Wedding Show marked some of our next big milestones. We’re thrilled by the response we’ve seen so far and excited for what’s to come this next year.
What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
The best source of new users for Plannerd has been word-of-mouth referrals from both couples and wedding planners, complimented by our social media presence. It’s exciting to see how naturally this community has grown; couples often recommend Plannerd to newly engaged friends, excited to share a tool that made their planning experience significantly smoother. Similarly, we’ve seen wedding planners recommending Plannerd to one another. They appreciate how the platform allows them to streamline their processes and collaborate more efficiently with couples and other vendors.
What’s especially rewarding is when a couple refers a professional to Plannerd so they can coordinate together in one centralized space. This dynamic lets planners stay in sync with the couple’s plans, enhancing communication and ensuring everyone is on the same page. In return, planners often introduce their other clients to Plannerd, bringing order and clarity to the planning journey.
