We were lucky to catch up with Hannah Niemann recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Hannah thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to start by getting your thoughts on what you are seeing as some the biggest trends emerging in your industry
The sticker business is saturated online. We live in a time of accessibility to millions of people, places, and ideas. Everyone wants to be unique and portray their own style. With so many brands in makeup, clothing, design, and more, it can be hard to stand out. Businesses like mine give people the opportunity to personalize their items including water bottles, Stanley cups, hydro flasks, laptops, notebooks, vehicles, and more. Due to the popularity of beverage holders in particular, I found it almost impossible to personalize my items without having the same cup as everyone else. That’s why I set out to create waterproof, weatherproof, and long-lasting designs to help my customers stand out from the rest.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Hi! My name is Hannah with StickWithMeByHannah. I am a self-built small business owner that operates out of my home. I started my small-scale operation with a vision of allowing my customers the option to personalize their beloved items to represent their personalities and passions. I personally design all of my stickers digitally and produce them all myself. I have spent hours looking for the best quality materials and I pride myself on being able to offer my customers highly personalized products that exceed all of their expectations. I give my customers the ability to turn cherished photos and favorite quotes into unique and memorable stickers. My favorite thing to do is collaborate with my customers to bring their ideas to life and create a one-of-a-kind product that they can show off. A repeat customer named Paul left a five-star review on one of his stickers saying, “What bad can I say about this seller!? She’s perfect in everything! Just an absolute joy to work with & her products alone speak for themselves! Totally radical!”
Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
I wanted to capitalize on the holiday season in 2022 by attending some in-person vendor fairs for a chance to spread the word about my company and the services I offer. This turned out to be exactly the right choice. I paid for a space at a mall not too far from my home and I put the word out to my 700+ followers on my personal and business Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok pages. The response to my products was amazing! I was the only booth dedicated specifically to stickers and I made my display to showcase my 150 different designs. I included holiday-themed stickers and marketed my products as the perfect stocking stuffers for your loved ones. My family and friends all came out to support and I was able to network and make custom project deals during my various weekends in person at the fairs. It was the revenue I needed to make this all worth it and it allowed me to make some very important business connections as well. Being in person as well as having a presence on social media has made all the difference in revenue for my business.
Do you sell on your site, or do you use a platform like Amazon, Etsy, Cratejoy, etc?
I use Etsy as my platform for selling my products. Anyone the sells or has sold on a marketplace knows the pros and cons of doing so. The main reason I chose Etsy as my beginner’s platform was its accessibility to millions of customers all over the world. I’ve received orders from the UK, Australia, Germany, Canada, and more. Etsy gives me access to business-building tools and resources to build my knowledge and their SEO technology lets me tailor my listings to a specific customer base. I plan to move my brand to my own website in the future but Etsy has been a great asset to me as a new business owner while I’m learning and troubleshooting week to week.
