We recently connected with Hannah Nguyen Churchwell and have shared our conversation below.
Hannah, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. What did your parents do right and how has that impacted you in your life and career?
One of the most important lessons my mom instilled in me was, “closed mouths don’t get fed.” I remember on several occasions my mom would ensure that we’d put this mindset to practice. Any time we’d be eating a meal out at a restaurant, and we wanted an extra condiment, or needed something like an extra napkin, we knew that if we’d ask our mom to ask for us she would direct us to do it ourselves. When I was younger, this was really uncomfortable for me to do, I used to get internally frustrated that my mom wouldn’t do it for us. But looking back, I’ve learned that not only did it help me build my confidence, but it forced me to find my voice and trust myself. Now, I’m more inclined to ask for everything that I want because she taught me early on about speaking up for myself, and being my own and biggest advocate.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I am a certified nutrition, fitness and mindset coach who specializing in helping women bring harmony to their hormones so that they can reclaim their energy, build physical strength and elevate their mindset to show up with the most unwavering confidence.
I’ve worked with over 100 women, and every single one of those women have accomplished AT LEAST one of their goals during their time with me, if not dozens by the time that their program was over.
I’ve been in your shoes.
I know what it’s like to be scared to eat something that is considered “unhealthy.”
I know what it’s like to ask for support from a doctor and get zero answers.
I know what it’s like to feel uncomfortable in my skin and not love what I see in the mirror.
I know what it feels like to be overwhelmed with information, “What’s right for me?” “Will that work for me?” “Why didn’t that work for me but it worked for her?”
I know what is feels like to not understand what is happening in my body or not know what my body needs to both feel and look good. I wanted more than anything to experience peace in the body I’m in. This is why I am so passionate about being your last stop on your Hormone Happy Journey. I’ve done all of the research so you don’t have to, and I’ve poured all of this into my signature program Happy Hormones with Hannie. This program is for women who no longer want to fight their relationship with food, fitness or themselves.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
Time in an industry is a great way to mark your level of expertise, but it’s not the only way. I’d been told and read so many things about how you can only “charge your worth” once you put in the years and years of hard work, and only when you’re in high demand that you can increase prices, but that’s so wrong. The right people will see the value in what you do, and they will pay you what you are worth. Share your story, ask for client testimonials, get out in your community, connect and support other women and you will connect with your people.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
Authenticity. It is important that I shared all of the highs and lows that I experience not only in business, but in my personal life as well. People want to work with other people they can connect with and stories they resonate with. Every industry can be considered oversaturated, but that mindset will only hold you back. Instead of this “woe is me” mentality, show your audience who you are and what makes you different. Show them your personality and what you stand firm for and against, and again, you will build the community that you want. Every day, we see the highlight reels on social media, which is great, but people want to see what the human experience is really like, show them you’re not just a robot.
