Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Hannah Middlehurst. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hannah, appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to go back in time and hear the story of how you came up with the name of your brand?
I get asked frequently how we came up with the name Willow & Honey Photography. It is quite simple actually, I named the business after my editing style to better give people an understanding of what to expect from us. Willow refers to the green earthy tones and honey refers to the warmer tones.
Hannah, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Growing up I always wanted to be a photographer I remember I got my first camera at the age of nine and I was BEYOND excited. I took pictures of everything I possibly could. As I got older I had more and more people telling me that being a photographer isn’t a career and that I needed to pick something else. I dropped the idea of being a photographer from that point on. Until I gave birth to my son, I realized I wanted a camera to capture all of his sweet little moments. Once I started taking pictures of him I remembered how much I loved photography. I started taking pictures of friends and family and then my business took off from there with lots of time and effort put in, countless hours studying, playing around learning new things with editing and even my camera. Now here we are with this being our second year with an LLC.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
For me being able to see the work I’ve created and the reaction my clients have to my work is the most rewarding feeling. I take a lot of pride in my work and am always striving to improve and just be even more creative with every piece I create.
How do you keep in touch with clients and foster brand loyalty?
I treat my clients like a big group of friends, Facebook helps me be able to reach all of my friends to share new ideas and even brainstorm ideas for sessions together. It also helps me give them a little behind the scenes for those who haven’t had a session with me yet.
