We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Hannah Malone. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Hannah below.
Alright, Hannah thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.
I found floral design while searching for a way to bridge my creative desires with the “normal” working world. I immediately loved working with flowers and plants. To create designs and arrangements as living, breathing tokens of love. For end of life celebrations, for precious wedding days. Materializing the ephemeral feelings of the moment. Plucking the magic of flowers from the ground, and bringing them inside, never grows old to me. My favorite part is creating a moment for people. A moment that is more meaningful with the presence of art. A moment with layers, a heady scent, and just the right colors. My last floral installation project was very meaningful to me. I have been a professional “artist” or Floral Designer for the last decade. I love being a full time designer, but I needed a creative outlet outside of my daily grind. So together with a group of mutual friends, I got to explore a life long dream of performance art and dance. I’ve been working in Burlesque, circus and flow arts since 2019. I wanted to finally bring my passion for burlesque and flowers together in a way I haven’t before. I want to draw a connection with both sides of me. Sometimes I feel like I have to hide parts of my personality in the shadows to be considered “professional” or “bookable”. But what I am always seeking is someone who is different, someone like me. I know if I want to find people like me, the first step is just being me.

Hannah, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Im a 31 year old Floral designer & burlesque dancer! I have been flowering for over 10 years. 6 years started my floral studio, Peach Moon Floral. I specialize in weddings florals and editorial installation florals. When I am not creating seriously magical flowers. You can find me hunched over gluing rhinestones and working on my fan dancing. For the past 4 years I’ve been exploring my love for dance and the performing arts with my friends in the VaVa Circus. They are some of My biggest inspirations!! They dare to be different and they do it unabashedly!

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
My driving mission is always, for people to love and appreciate themselves. Just like we do flowers. Every flower is different and unique. The imperfections or the flaws are what makes them special .The flower with the curvy stem, or the odd petal count are always the ones that stand out. When people see arrangements I’ve made, I want them to admire the beauty of what nature has created. When people see me on stage, I want them to see their own beauty, reflected in how they see me. Natural, unfurled and free.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding thing about being an artist is the sense of accomplishment when you make a piece your really proud of. When a work expands on its own, and come out better than you originally planned. That is the feeling that keeps me creating. How proud I feel of the creation and myself.
