We recently connected with Hannah Looez and have shared our conversation below.
Hannah, appreciate you joining us today. Can you tell us about a time where you or your team really helped a customer get an amazing result?
I once had a young girl that was 13 years old come to see me with her mom. She had went to the dermatologist and they immediately wanted to put her on accutane, but they were hoping to avoid medication. I saw her for multiple facial treatments, set her up with at home skincare products, and we discussed other tips/tricks and lifestyle changes to help get her to a point where she was happy with her skin. A few months later, her mom texted me saying how incredible her results have been and her skin was doing so great! I know that can be a rough age and I’m just thankful I was able to guide them in the right direction and help her to be more confident in her own skin!
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My name is Hannah Lopez. I am a Licensed Esthetician in Avon Lake, Ohio. I offer custom facial treatments, dermaplaning, and full body sugaring hair removal. I initially got into the beauty industry because of my love for makeup. I still enjoy creating really fun makeup looks on myself. But while I was in school, I fell in love with the skincare side. It felt more rewarding being able to help someone gain confidence in their skin without feeling the need to cover it with makeup.
I’ve been an esthetician now for 3 years and so far the most rewarding part has been helping clients to achieve their dream skin and just also helping them relax after a rough day.
I recently went solo with my career and opened my own spa suite, Skin Care by Hannah Lopez. It’s been a fun and stressful journey so far but I’m loving every second.
What sets my business apart from other spas is I offer treatments for all genders and want to be a safe space for the LGBTQ+ community. I like to get to know my clients so I can offer them the best possible treatment that I know they will enjoy and be satisfied with.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
I have almost 700 followers on Instagram, so I’m definitely not an influencer lol. But for me, I’m proud of this achievement because socially media was really hard for me at first. It took me a while to realize the best thing you can do is be yourself. Clients want to see a different sides of you, you don’t only have to talk about your business and your business alone. It’s ok to share a picture with family or a picture of your dog. It makes you more human and relatable. Which being relatable is the easiest way to grow on social media. I like to be silly and goofy, so for me I have been trying to make funny, but relatable posts about skincare. You also really have to post almost everyday to gain new followers, but it’s fun when you’re just being yourself.
What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
The good old fashion way: word of mouth. I just recently had a new client that was referred by someone I’ve been seeing for years. She came in and loved her facial. Two days later I had an appointment with her friend that she referred. And that client said she was going to tell all her friends about me! When your clients are happy with their treatments and results and also enjoy you as a person, they definitely will tell their friends and family. Or just someone sharing your post on social media helps spread the word as well!
