We recently connected with Hannah Lezynski and have shared our conversation below.

Hannah, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Have you ever had an amazing boss? What did you learn from them? Maybe you can share a story that illustrates the kind of boss they were or maybe you can share your thoughts on what you think made them an awesome person to work for?

The best mentor I’ve ever had funnily enough has the same name as me, Hannah Picasso. She is the owner of Salon Picasso which is where I rented from during my time in San Antonio, I don’t think I could’ve found a better home salon! She is definitely a great leader and great person all over, I aspire to be like her when it comes to running a business in this industry. She always went above and beyond whether it was with her own personal clients, any of the people who rented from her, or her assistants. I learned so much from her when it came to this industry and I will always treasure my time I spent in her salon!

Hannah, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?

As long as I can remember, I had wanted to be a part of the beauty industry. When I started at Aveda in 2018 I couldn’t wait to go to class everyday, I had such a passion to learn more and perfect my craft which is what made me know I picked the right career. The beauty industry is ever changing and growing, there’s always something new to learn around the corner. I love taking classes and going to conferences to get to learn new things and network with other people in this industry.
After graduating, I had worked at a few different salons, really figuring out exactly what I wanted to do with my earned experience. I had decided it was time to have my own business to do hair and lashes when I started to feel really confident in my skills. I was nervous at first, but more than anything I was so excited to be able to do something that I was so passionate about. I am so blessed to have had the opportunity as well as having the supportive family and friends that encouraged me to do so. I came up with the name “Lux Lashes & Hair” for my business because when my guests come in to visit me, I strive to always provide them with a luxurious experience. I absolutely love what I do and am always trying to make my clients feel confident and like their most beautiful selves when they come to me for their hair or lashes! I think what sets me apart from others is how much I genuinely love my job, I get excited to go into work get to do my craft on people and see their reactions after I finish. There’s nothing more rewarding than seeing someone love the results that you were able to give them. I truly believe there is no one size fits all with hair or lashes so I love having the ability to customize each clients look to them and give them a personal experience when they come to see me.

Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?

Honestly for me word of mouth has grown my business the most, whether my clients go out and someone asks where they got their lashes/hair done and they respond with my business or just post about it. Sometimes when my clients tag me in their social media posts it’ll get some of their friends/followers to reach out and end up clientele as well. I am always so grateful to my clients for sharing my work when they’re happy!

Are there any books, videos, essays or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?

From going to Lashcon in California I found Elena Asher, she was a speaker one of the years. Her talk that year really had a lasting positive effect on me. Her podcasts she’s been on as well as just keeping up with her social media I feel made a huge impact on my business and my mindset as a whole. She truly puts things into a new perspective and offers ways of thinking I find to be very helpful.
