We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Hannah Hughes. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Hannah below.
Hannah, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today It’s always helpful to hear about times when someone’s had to take a risk – how did they think through the decision, why did they take the risk, and what ended up happening. We’d love to hear about a risk you’ve taken.
The biggest risk I have taken was moving from New York, where I grew up, to Los Angeles at 20 years old. I knew it would be beneficial for me and my creative path, but also knew that I had to part ways with my old life to build new beginnings. This was one of the best decisions I’ve made for myself, and taught me that taking a leap of faith is necessary to become the highest version of yourself.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I have been writing music since I was 8 years old. I began playing trumpet and was in competitive marching band for a decade. I began playing guitar at age 15 and it was in that moment that I realized I can combine my love for creating musical melodies, and my love for guitar together. I began releasing music at age 17 and have been performing live since I was 18. As a songwriter, I love creating music and live performances that pull the viewer into my world. It feels personal, vulnerable, and sincere. It has always been my goal to make music that a lot of people can relate to. My goal is to make people feel understood through my art. I want my fans to know that I am here to liberate them through my music and lyrics. That is what I am most proud of.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
I would say the most rewarding aspect of being an artist is bringing people together. I love when people become friends from meeting at my performances, or meeting at a music video shoot. Bringing people together through my music reminds me daily why I do what I do.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
My goal is to not only make people feel understood, but my goal is to liberate those who deal with the many difficulties of life. I want my music to be a safe space for those who might be struggling, feeling misunderstood, or just want their voice to feel heard. I love being able to liberate people with my music, seeing fans dancing screaming of joy and crying tears of happiness in the crowd reminds me why I do what I do every single day, and my purpose in the world.
