We were lucky to catch up with Hannah Herbold recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hannah, appreciate you joining us today. Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?
I have been fired from every single job I have worked in my life, and it has been many. In 2018, I quit my full-time job with no money, no savings, $10’s of 1000’s of dollars in debt and no way to pay my bills in 2 weeks so I could pursue my creative career full time.
I slammed my foot on the gas and was making over $1000/week by my second month and have never looked back. In 5 years I have done $425,000 worth of sales, with no paid advertising and no sales team.
Sometimes, you have to jump without knowing where you’re going to land to have the life you know you deserve.
Hannah, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Hannah Herbold and I am a third generation Colorado native. I pursued a photography degree at Metro State University in Denver, CO and in 2018 I started my career as a Real Estate Photographer. I work with mostly real estate agents, photographing homes they are putting up for sale. I offer a full service to my clients with a wide range of products including HDR still photos, 3d walk throughs, floor plans, video marketing, drone photography and much more.
I pride myself on my company’s customer service and consistency with the work we deliver. Customer service and quality control are my main priorities as the business owner and each project is special to us. A quick booking and turnaround time allows us to service our customers in any timeline.
My company, Lavish Real Estate Photography, specializes in Luxury listings but still allows a affordable price point, but no matter the products ordered, our clients are delivered an incredible product in one of the quickest turnaround times in the industry.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
No one is going to work as hard for you as you are going to work for yourself, and you cannot expect them to. It is not their business, it is yours. So if people are loyal, putting in the work and effort, responsible and take responsibility if something goes wrong, hold on to them at all costs.
Looking back, are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
Hire what you are not good at. I took too long to hire a good bookkeeper and CPA. I am not good with numbers, and they are an incredible value to my team.
