We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Hannah Cohrs. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Hannah below.
Alright, Hannah thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Do you manage your own social media?
With the current size of CraftedbyHannahCo. I have decided to handle social media on my own. Results have been great – we are steadily increasing in our followers & engagement despite being a full-time college student.
Advice for other small business owners: as long as you feel you can manage the business social media accounts successfully and continue to grow by yourself – keep handling it yourself! Once you scale, then consider what’s on your plate and what you can create a team for to delegate some of your tasks to.
Hannah, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
CraftedbyHannahCo. is a small-batch handmade polymer clay women’s accessory brand. We sell items ranging from lightweight earrings to beautiful hair clips. Most jewelry you get out there are heavy or they just don’t show off your personality. Our items are lightweight, customizable and easy to order through our website. I’m so excited about where our brand is headed in the coming years.
After playing around with polymer clay back in 2020 I found my love for it and that’s when this business started in September 2020!
One of the biggest lessons I have learned through having this business is to have thick skin and believe in what you do. Many people will try to down-play your business, especially when having a creative/artistic business. Some may say you’re just “crafting” but no! You have built a successful business from the ground up and that it is a GREAT accomplishment!
My biggest advice to other small business owners is: don’t give up! Things may get hard and they will but keep pushing on.

Do you sell on your site, or do you use a platform like Amazon, Etsy, Cratejoy, etc?
Currently, we sell our items on Etsy. Etsy is great for those starting out or who need more exposure. While I like that Etsy gives you an easy to platform to use and is very helpful in getting started, it’s hard to build a brand with Etsy alone. That’s where I’d recommend building your social media up and building an email list as well. There’s quite a bit of fees associated with Etsy as well as not being able to build your brand as much as you would with your own website. Each platform would work differently with each business so it’s important to evaluate what would work best for your business.
Any thoughts, advice, or strategies you can share for fostering brand loyalty?
At CraftedbyHannahCo. we not only sell to our customers but we also communicate with them on a regular basis. A lot of my customers I stay in contact with – especially through social media. I ask about their lives and talk with them regularly. Keeping that personal connection makes that business relationship even stronger. In the past we have had brand ambassadors that will get a small box of products for free each month with an exchange for a few posts and a video for each month showcasing those products. I absolutely loved working with my brand ambassadors and creating specific items they would love to get them excited. One of our most loyal customers, Ciera, mentioned in one of her ambassador posts, “Hannah’s products are simply incredible..but the amount of work she puts into making sure each customer feels special & connected with is what made me fall in love with her company!
Every single item is packaged with care, & the unboxing moment feels like a personal gift to you.
Please look at her shop & support women owned businesses & small businesses. They are real artists putting amazing work out there. 💛”
