We recently connected with Hannah Carroll and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Hannah thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Who is your hero and why? What lessons have you learned from them and how have they influenced your journey?
My hero would definitely have to be my mother. I’ve seen her struggle during hard times, but still staying strong because she knows better days are ahead. She has inspired me to never give up because God will always make a way, and she has taught me that resilience is key in all aspects of life. With my journey as a designer, there have been times when business is slow, clients are difficult & overall I just felt like giving up; remembering how my mom keeps going no matter the circumstance has been my number one motivation to keep going in my business, and I’m so grateful that I was able to be taught these lessons throughout my life.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I’m a graphic designer & brand stylist that has been a part of the industry for about 3 years now. I got into graphic design after I graduated high school in 2020 & took a gap year; I always had a niche for making logos/flyers so I decided to take it on full time. I provide website design, logo development, social media content creation & other branding services for small businesses; my clients are usually black women in the beauty industry, too! I help my clients to produce creative, unique content to post on their pages that will help with attracting new clientele & boosting engagement, which are the main issues nowadays on social media. I am most proud of how far my business has come within the past 3 years – I’ve grown my business all on my own & have gotten so many opportunities in beauty & even sports because of it! I want my clients to know that with my brand, they are guaranteed top quality service; I will ensure that all needs are met in a timely fashion, and all designs will be distinctive, matching their brand’s aesthetic.
We’d love to hear about how you keep in touch with clients.
Recently, I have been promoting my mailing list which is linked on the homepage of my website, www.brandedbyblair.com. At least twice a month, I reach out to clients that have subscribed to send out exclusive offers & sale codes that are specifically made for them; this is because with signing up for the email list, you have some sort of loyalty towards my business, and for that, I am grateful. Thus, I decide to express this gratitude through giving them a chance to get money off any service of their choice, and this helps to build the client-designer relationship up as well!
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding part of being a designer would definitely have to be getting the messages from clients that they were overly satisfied with the designs I made for them. It makes me feel really good knowing that my creativity has allowed me to create aesthetically pleasing content for another business owner like myself. It’s also a great feeling seeing my business flourish & having clients return because they loved my work!
