We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Hannah Birdsong. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Hannah below.
Alright, Hannah thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
I have loved the arts since I was a child. I began acting at the age of eight. As a shy and reserved child, acting allowed me to break out of my shell and express my creativity. I continued to act and write throughout my adolescent years. In high school, I decided to pursue an artistic profession, dreaming of writing and starring in my own films.
To achieve this, I sought higher education at Georgia State University, where I graduated with a degree in Visual and Performing Arts. College deepened my love and respect for the arts. After college, I pursued an acting career in film and television.
In 2018, I had the amazing opportunity to work with a talent agency, coaching young actors. I absolutely loved being an acting coach, especially working with children.
When COVID hit, my position was put on pause bit i did not let that stop me. My passion for coaching led me to start my own business, and ONE4ALL Young Actors Studio was born.
I am now the proud owner of an acting school for children, specializing in honing their natural gifts, building their confidence, and strengthening their interpersonal skills.
It has been a pleasure to give back to these kids and help them grow their creative talents, just as I did when I was a child!
Hannah, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Hannah Birdsong, and I am a native of Atlanta, GA. As a young child, I developed a passion for the arts, starting with my love of writing short stories, poems, and plays. My love for storytelling quickly turned into me becoming the breakout star in multiple plays and variety theater shows. Despite being shy and reserved, participating in theatrical productions allowed me to break out of my shell!
I am a proud alumna of Georgia State University, where I earned a B.A. in Visual and Performing Arts. After college, I continued to pursue my career and have performed in several movies and television shows such as Drop Dead Diva, Mean Girls 2, Tyler Perry’s A Fall from Grace, Uncle Drew, and many more. I have also served as a writer and producer for numerous plays.
In 2018, a private acting agency sought my skills and experience, securing me as their premier traveling acting coach for children. While traveling the U.S. and meeting these bright starlets, I realized my dreams of combining my love for children and the arts had come true. Unfortunately, this dream was halted due to COVID regulations and safety protocols. From this transition, I decided to start my own business, and ONE4ALL Young Actors Studio was born.
The entertainment industry can be exciting, fun, and glamorous; nevertheless, it is not a journey I would advise anyone to navigate alone. Parents and caretakers need someone they can trust to have their child’s well-being and best interests at heart. I created ONE4ALL Young Actors Studio to be a safe space for young performers to thrive in their God-given talents and abilities.
I want my students to have the same positive opportunities to express themselves creatively as I had when I was a child. A creative outlet is a pivotal part of any child’s development. At ONE4ALL Young Actors Studio, we strive to hone our students’ talents and gifts, help them build their confidence, and strengthen their interpersonal skills.
I am most proud of my company’s dedication to serving children and their families and helping them successfully navigate the entertainment industry.
If there is anything I want potential clients, followers, or fans to know, it is that everything we do at ONE4ALL Young Actors Studio is done with love, care, and compassion.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being a creative is the freedom to express myself and see how my creative ventures positively affects others.
What can society do to ensure an environment that’s helpful to artists and creatives?
In my experience as a creative it can hard at times to create financial stability with our endeavors. So many people benefit for our gifts but we aren’t often compensated as we should be.
Many of us have to have work other jobs in addition to our creative pursuits.
I would like for more people to advocate for creatives to be paid their worth so we can do what we love and make a living.
