Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Hannah Alexandra. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Hannah thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
I was introduced to dancing at the age of four. Different styles of dance such as Ballet, Flamenco, and Tap required different styles of music and instruments to move to. My most favorite sound was that of the piano.
I began to take piano lessons and realized quickly that I loved to sing. Creating harmony with each note and having the opportunity to mix both the piano and my voice during performance was fascinating to me. I had grown up listening to artists such as Sara Bareilles, Adele, and Avril Lavigne: three artists with completely different styles, that all were able to tell emotional and hard-hitting stories through their writing. I became inspired to create my own songs.
Through years of practice on the piano, finding my inner sound, and creating lyrics through my growing love of poetry, I was sure that I wanted to be a performing artist for the rest of my life. Discovering my passion at such an early stage has led me to pursuing a career as an independent artist and making the recording studio, stage, and piano, my home, with the goal of creating a personal connection with as many listeners as possible through my writing and sound.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I am most proud of being a contestant on American Idol’s Season 6 in 2022, the release of the music video for my original single “Colors,” and my debut as an Independent Artist as an opener for JP Saxe in his “The Feelings Are Stupid Tour,” in Atlanta, Georgia at Terminal West.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being an independent artist is the listener’s experience and expression towards my music. Whether it was that the song made them cry and release their emotions, or that it helped them get through a rough patch in their life, knowing that my art is not just special to me, but can also connect with others and make them feel something special, makes it all that more rewarding.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
I began building my social media presence through YouTube and Instagram in 2016. I would post covers of popular songs that I loved and felt that other listeners would enjoy. Through posting covers, I began to receive positive feedback from the community of listeners I was building. I then transitioned into TikTok continuing to post covers and snippets of my original songs.
As I’ve share who I am through my voice, writing style, and song choices, I have been able to connect with listeners, and have began to grow my audience and community online. Staying consistent and being true to my style and message has allowed me to continue to share my passion and strive to reach new listeners.
