We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Hannah Agueci and Cassie Suppes a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hannah and Cassie, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
Hannah here! When Cassie and I decided to start this business in a fairly saturated industry, we gave a lot of thought to how we would stand out. It came down to accessibility. We wanted to bring high quality photos to people at an affordable price. We believe that all people are beautiful and have the right to wonderful photos that perfectly capture their memories. We approach every photo shoot as though we are supporting our friends, even if we have never met our client before. Our mission is to make the time spent with us as easy as possible.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
Hi, I’m Hannah Agueci and I work with Cassie Suppes. We are co-owners of Simple Moments Photography, offering photo services from family photos to large wedding events. Simple Moments has two locations: Savannah, GA, where Cassie and I went to school together; and Fort Collins, Colorado, where Cassie was born and raised. We work independently, each running a location, and especially love when we travel to work together for all-day wedding events! My photography interest peaked in high school when I started photographing my life. During the summer I took pictures at the beach, and during the school year I took photos of my family and the events we attended. Cassie’s career began even earlier; you can read more about her photography journey below. We both studied commercial photography at Savannah College of Art and Design and graduated in 2020. Cassie and I pride ourselves on being affordable and accessible to everyone, and we work incredibly hard to go above and beyond for our clients and to make everyone feel at ease. It is our goal to diminish a client’s stress, never add to it! We bring our experience, personality, and talent to every shoot; we are our brand. Cassie and I are so proud of our work – but the feedback we receive about us as people means the most to us. Our clients know that we will work hard to deliver the best photos we possibly can; we will bring our “A” game to make a photo shoot as easygoing as possible. The people we have met through our work have changed our lives: we wouldn’t be who we are without those who have trusted us with their special moments!
Can you tell us the story behind how you met your business partner?
Even though Cassie and I began studying at SCAD the same year and were both photography majors, our paths didn’t cross until we were both abroad at SCAD’s Lacoste campus in the spring of 2019. We bonded instantly and Cassie joined me for my post-semester travel to Amsterdam and London. We have been best friends ever since! We completed our SCAD studies during the first year of the Covid-19 pandemic, hosting a private graduation ceremony in May, 2020. Cassie moved back to Colorado at the end of August and I set down roots in Savannah. About a month later, Cassie traveled back to Savannah and we shot the wedding that began Simple Moments – we have traveled back and forth multiple times a year ever since!
We’d love to hear the story of how you turned a side-hustle into a something much bigger.
Cassie here! I’ve always loved cameras and constantly had art in my life. My mom was an art teacher; I was always surrounded by creativity. I started photographing in high school to help my friends who couldn’t afford to get their senior photos taken. My “payment” for a photo shoot was a smoothie and $20, which, when I was 15, was a good amount of money! I worked hard and had a vision, and developed my service into a full-blown business. Family support is the constant theme running throughout my career. The first wedding I photographed in high school – all of the “firsts,” in fact – were members of my family. My parents encouraged me to go to Savannah College Art Design, where I honed my photography skills and where I meet Hannah. I knew that we could be successful working together, so I introduced Hannah to the world of wedding photography and Simple Moments was born. Our business took off because we put our heads down and focused 100 percent on it. We strive to do that every day and it’s working out well for us. There is a bright future ahead for Simple Moments!
