We were lucky to catch up with Hanna Shuliakovska recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hanna, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Let’s start with a story that highlights an important way in which your brand diverges from the industry standard.
My studio offers European Facial which is different from beauty industry standards. The European Facial includes 45 min lymphatic drainage and sculpting massage. My unique technique works with the skin as well as deeper layers such as the muscles. It prevents wrinkles and also helps reduce muscle tension after stress.
Hanna, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
“Beauty Studio by Hanna” is truly my “American dream” come to life. I take pride in my work and love making my clients feel and look beatiful after their skin care appointments. My journey of establishing myself as a professional esthetician and creating my own brand started in when I lived Ukraine. I graduated from medical school and was all set to become a family doctor…Yet, I chose to take a leap of faith and follow my true passion and pivot my career to work in beauty industry. My medical training and education was a perfect fit to help me develop my own technique and create my “Signature European Facial Massage” series. These treatments help prevent appearance of wrinkles, improve skin tone and complexion, remove swelling, and relieve muscle spasms…all without injections or plastic surgery.
My studio in Mount Pleasant, SC now offers European facials that include lymphatic drainage massage, face sculpting and buccal massage techniques in addition to traditional treatments as well as sugaring and waxing procedures. My mission is to continue bringing a top notch quality European skincare treatments and techniques to the U.S. clients.
Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
My journey to skin care started back in Ukraine. After my graduated from medical school I was in maternity leave and realized I don’t want to work as a doctor, I want to follow my dream of being an esthetician. A year later I got my esthetician license in Europe. I learned from the best and developed my own techniques in sugaring, lymphatic drainage massage, face sculpting and buccal massage.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
I moved to the US with my family 4 years ago, and had to start over not only with rebuilding my business but also learning English from a very basic level. I am proud to say that my passion, my two sons and my husband kept me motivated and inspired to successfully obtain my U.S. esthetician’s license and graduate from Charleston Cosmetology Institute.
