We were lucky to catch up with Hana Eichele recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hana, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We love heartwarming stories – do you have a heartwarming story from your career to share?
I became interested in how kids eat as early as high school! I worked with children who were able to participate in their everyday life so much easier once they were able to eat the right nutrients for their bodies. I became curious about why and how some children could eat well without an issue and others really struggled. It fueled me to learn more about feeding and eating!

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Roots Pediatric Therapy in Gilbert, Arizona focuses on making mealtimes and family life easier! We are known for our responsive feeding therapy practices that consider the family unit to be the expert and our willingness to partner with parents for the best outcomes. We collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, starting with occupational therapy and nutrition services within our company, and then we connect with other local providers as often as possible.

Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
As a business owner that values connection and thrives off collaborating with others, I’ve found the most effective strategy for reaching new families have been other professionals in the same or similar fields. As an occupational therapist, I work closely with other occupational therapists with differing specialties, such as sensory processing and also with speech-language pathology professionals that serve our clients. This has made entrepreneurship feel more fulfilling, too, because the clients make more progress when we collaborate with others!
How did you put together the initial capital you needed to start?
Funding the business has been through personal means. It has taken more grit and hustle than I could have imagined, as I’ve been the main provider of services as well as the CEO running the business. The best advice I can give to someone is to pace yourself! Only grow as fast as you can afford and handle so that you can maintain stamina for the long-haul. Starting a business is easy, growing a business is a whole new skillset that requires strategy, discipline, and belief that you can do it!
