We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Hamisi Musitwa a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hamisi, appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
My Teenage years I was not Musically inclined until when I lost my closet friend Tommy to a gunfight, this opened my eyes that violence was not the way forward and decided to change my ankle of view ,since I had spent most of my evening at studio, I decided to give it a shot as a rapper and develop my craft as a professional rapper and Songwriter

Hamisi, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Around November 2017 I had already started getting recognition as a street battle rapper and thus by year 2020 I fully committed my Music Career and dropped my Album “Am On My Way” but did not do well since I had no management and did not understand The Digital Marketing basically for an Artist of my Time going to the Studio and Recording a project then Shooting a video and uploading it on YouTube was more than enough I didn’t have a clue about Spotify or Apple Music or other hundreds of digital platforms or distributors to work with.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
For every Artist his craft is considered a masterpiece by him alone and it his duty to turn that dream to reality, most of my time if I was not consistent by now I would be nowhere honestly speaking from the heart I had friends who I like to refer as colleges since they no longer hold the friends possession to my heart , before I was an Artist I was an Influencer with Over half a million followers and with that number you tend to have connections with big brands and Artists , actually I even helped some make names of there self’s but when it come to my time most left me un-read or if I was lucky enough gave me a seen, and this really broke down my spirit and my craft was hanging on thread but taking a break was not the solution so I turned the negative response they gave me as feedback and made it a dream I was willing to turn it to reality that one day same people who overlooked me will one day see me on Tv and wish they knew me earlier or even took time to listen to my craft.

Looking back, are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
For every Artist dream is to gain global recognition but the dream is not for independent Artist who have no clue or Education on Digital Marketing basically in my early Music life around 2017 I had no clue about Spotify or Apple Music and if I had started as early as that I believe I could have made a big change .
