Hamilton , appreciate you joining us today. Can you tell us about a time that your work has been misunderstood? Why do you think it happened and did any interesting insights emerge from the experience?
I think starting out my music was so unique you couldn’t really put me in a box because I always wanted to try out different sounds. That was important for me because I felt as an artist if people put you into a box that could hinder your growth in the eyes of the public.
Hamilton , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Hamilton James, I am an artist based in the San Fernando Valley region of Los Angeles. My sound is unique as I incorporate the SFV sound with modern day contemporary influences.
I am also an event planner and I have put together events including pool parties and artist showcases. Under the VOAW brand, I have had over 100+ artists perform.
What can society do to ensure an environment that’s helpful to artists and creatives?
It’s very simple: in 2024, a “like” and a “share/repost” can go a long way
Looking back, are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
Not resources so much as just being around the right people who foster a community of positivity and growth. That’s VERY IMPORTANT
