Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Haley Witt. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Haley thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Looking back, do you think you started your business at the right time? Do you wish you had started sooner or later
I truly never anticipated starting my own business at 23.
I took a Communications and Entrepreneurship class in college and knew I was interested in someday working on a business project of my own, but I assumed that opportunity was still many years down the line.
But when I realized I wanted to develop a more diverse marketing portfolio, freelancing seemed like an excellent route.
Thus, Awake Digital Media was born.
And a few months into launching my own company, I had a shocking realization: 23 is actually a phenomenal age to start a business.
I was very fortunate to still have health insurance through my parents, I had no mortgage, no children, and minimal responsibilities.
My financial risk was the lowest it would ever be.
I would advise young career professionals to take the leap if they’re ready and prepared – you’re never really “too young” to start a business!

Haley, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
There’s no doubt that today’s media landscape is rapidly changing.
As global events like COVID-19 have continued to turn business-as-usual on its head, now more than ever, people need support.
Watching small business owners navigate these turbulent changes, I felt deeply called to help them deepen their digital strategy and promote their story.
Awake Digital Media is a Denver-based digital marketing agency and website design studio that offers services including logos and branding, copywriting, website design, marketing consulting, social media strategy, and more.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
As a young business owner, I had to unlearn my own impostor syndrome and negative self talk in order to ensure that I was charging appropriate rates! I was fortunate to meet up with many amazing entrepreneurs in my industry and ask candid questions about how to build a pricing that made sense for the quality of my work and the services I was offering.
We’d love to hear about how you keep in touch with clients.
I’m lucky, because I truly have the best clients. My clients are often other small business owners like me, so we’re able to relate to one another’s goals, dreams, and struggles. I’ve fostered personal relationships with my clients and love to check in with them about how business is going and how I can support them! We learn from each other.
