We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Haley Weight. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Haley below.
Haley, appreciate you joining us today. Earning a full time living from one’s creative career can be incredibly difficult. Have you been able to do so and if so, can you share some of the key parts of your journey and any important advice or lessons that might help creatives who haven’t been able to yet?
I think it’s important to do something your passionate about and like they say you’ll never work a day in your life. As a hair stylist learning a trade and everything that comes with it is hard. Being your own boss and managing a schedule is hard. But nothing comes easy you have to start somewhere. Day one finishing school I would say I questions everything but someone told me to start where I wanted to end up and I took that to heart. I assisted one of the most amazing industry professionals I’ve ever met Bellami Educator/Amanda Bruno she taught me more then I imagined and I was able to move back home and work at my dream salon because of her. I don’t think there is any way I could have sped up my process everyone’s journey is different you just have to believe in yourself and do it!!!
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I am Haley Kay and’I started my brand campaign glam.costyles because I love the beauty industry! My goal is to make every client that sits in my chair feel loved and beyond beautiful I want to help everyone achieve their style dreams and help accentuate your already natural beauty because you are beautiful !!! And you deserve it. I’m a country girl at heart from a small town in Utah! I spent 2 years in Las Vegas *to pursue my dreams as a stylist. I have the sweetest 3 year old little boy and the most amazing family, they motivate me to push for success and stay true to myself I love the outdoors, but I’m also an absolute girly girl. As a stylist I promise to be your best friend and biggest cheerleader I will always be realistic with you and and your expectations to ensure we reach your beauty goals with the healthiest and most innovative methods possible.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
I had to stop doubting myself! Stop thinking everything through with a step by step plan and just go for it. The beauty industry can be a scary place. So many variables to considered it can leave you running the other way but if you truly love something and are willing to sacrifice your time and energy you’ll get anywhere.
Any resources you can share with us that might be helpful to other creatives?
I wish I could have had more help on licking my school. I was so lucky and found the perfect one for myself but comparing schedules and picking the one that was best for my life not necessarily the fastest roughy set me up for success.
