Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Haley Robertson. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Haley, appreciate you joining us today. If you had a defining moment that you feel really changed the trajectory of your career, we’d love to hear the story and details.
I was gifting crystal singing bowls at the end of my Yoga Teacher Training in 2020. I didn’t know how to play them nor did I believe I could play them especially for a living. At the beginning of 2021, I woke up from a dream that affirmed this was a path I was meant to be on. In the dream, I had some stackable cups that were really popular a while back. I remember saying in the dream, I don’t know how to play these, I don’t know how to use these and tossed them in the trash. Suddenly the cups lit up and were vibrating and I received a text messaging saying, “it’s inside you, just do it!”
I woke up immediately from the dream, taking that as a message that the wisdom of playing the singing bowls was already within me. What I learned and encourage from this dream and this experience is often times, I thought I needed validation from a source to know what I know, but I can listen to my knowing within and trust it is the path to follow.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I’ve identified as a creative for as long as I can remember. I’ve spent most of my life gaining experiences through traveling in my own leisure and with a corporate marketing job. I’ve always been on a path of discovering my purpose. I’ve always wanted to be an artist, own my own company, and travel the world doing what I love. In 2020, COVID rerouted me to my hometown of St.Joseph, MO where I took a hard look at my life and the direction I wanted to take it.
In that discovery I found Self-Healing, Holistic Lifestyle and a deeper sense of purpose in those fields. I began my studies of yogic philosophy, spirituality, meditation and emotional intelligence. After years of being fascinated with what was behind the asanas (yoga poses), I committed to a yoga teacher training in Kansas City, MO. Through this training, I hoped to develop my knowledge and wisdom in what it means to live a holistic lifestyle as well as be of service in this way. I was open to teaching yoga, and also other alternative methods of Healing. I had my first Sound Bath with crystal singing bowls in this training and I was inspired. I mentioned I wanted a singing bowls to someone in my life at the time and was gifted them at the end of this training. I had no plans to create a business around this modality or around yoga.
Within this journey my brand was born. First with the name The Artichoke Project and later evolving to The Cosmic Artichoke. An artichoke is a metaphor of living a conscious life through holistic practices and tools. Ultimately showcasing that we are spiritual beings living a human experience. The business was formed when I realized that sound, yoga and art are all ways to peel away the layers [of identities, limiting beliefs, fears] to remember the heart [our spiritual and creative nature].
With more practice, peeling away layers of my own fears and insecurities in facilitating groups, I began offering public sound bath sessions. Since then, I’ve done a practical training of how to facilitate bowls, as well as a training in the energetics of sound and creating sacred space to facilitate sound in for a deeper experience. I’ve facilitated sound at retreats, online, in collaboration with others and on my own for the past year. Sound has been a catalyst for my creativity and diving in my purpose to serve the greater whole.
With that as my mission, I began my studies in PsychoSynthesis. PsychoSynthesis is a process and framework that merges psychological and spiritual principles used for transformation, healing and personal growth. This program has been a catalyst in learning and embodying my mission of peeling away the layers to remember the heart. I will be a certified PsychoSynthesis Life Coach by the end of this year.
Today, I offer private and group sound sessions, monthly public sessions, 1:1 coaching sessions.
My intention in serving is to calm the mind, relax the body to make space for the spirit to emerge. I help people relax, to peel away layers of themselves to reveal their True Self and express that Self in the world. They will be more in touch with their creativity and spiritual life.
I’ve been on a journey of becoming and embodying my soul. Through art, through this project, through my studies. This journey has shown me what self-love really is, how to integrate parts of myself and that the love I truly desire comes from within. I hope we can work together so I can help you discover that within yourself!
COMING SOON is a business called Elevate Holistic Arts that will help corporate leaders and companies acclimate to the changing world and demands of their employees.
Training and knowledge matter of course, but beyond that what do you think matters most in terms of succeeding in your field?
I think what is most helpful for succeeding in my field is experience. Through my experience of holding sound journeys for groups, I’ve learned how to listen not only with my ears but with my entire body and the guidance within. It’s also important to talk with other facilitators and ask questions. Facilitating a group of people takes practice and time to master the craft and feel comfortable facilitating. I find that I learn something new every single sound journey, about myself, facilitating and others.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
I’ve been dedicated to learning what my purpose is for years, that is what originally set me on this path of entrepreneurship. I left my corporate job to pursue a volunteer gig for a major festival, this major festival was cancelled due to COVID and my path led me back to my hometown. In my hometown, living with my parents, I took a hard look at what I really wanted to do with my life. Through research about holistic arts, studying yogic philosophy, and taking the time to meditate. When I decided to go to Yoga Teacher training in 2020, and I was gifted the singing bowls, I found myself on the path of Entrepreneurship. While I have a business degree in marketing, it is difficult to build a business, especially with the amount of ideas and directions to go. There have been many times when I’ve thought about giving up. However, I know that Sound came into my life for a reason and building a business supported by this incredible tool is only the beginning of where I plan to take this path.
