Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Haley Petrovich. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Haley, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love to hear about the things you feel your parents did right and how those things have impacted your career and life.
I watched my parents brave entrepreneurship my whole life, there were times when I watched them, climb, skyhigh and succeed greatly. Then there were times when I watched them fall. Hard. Learn, pivot, and get right back up again. They’ve had a mushroom farm, a bounce house rental company, a jewelry company, a business brokerage, a drywall company….. And truthfully I could go on. I looked at that life and thought. Nope.
Not for me.
Not doing that. Employees, irregular pay, contracts, marketing, sales, no way it’s all too much.
What I didn’t see, or rather what I saw but didn’t fully appreciate was the perks of having self employed parents. they never missed ANYTHING because of work. Ever. If I forgot my lunch, they would bring it to me. I never had to take the bus, or go to an afterschool program, every day could be “bring your kid to work day” if I wanted to go. I have incredible phone etiquette because from a young age, like…8 if my dad was unavailable for a short time to answer his work phone, it was expected that I would pick it up and say “The Haley Group, can you hold please?” Or “Jeff is unavailable at the moment, may I take a message?”
Now I have my own little, my why, and have discovered new passions and how to channel them and I see those perks SO clearly.
Haley, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Haley Petrovich, I am a wife, mother, and event planner. Event planning is something I’ve been doing my whole life. I’ve always just done it for free, for friends, family, & myself. I’ve always been a creative person and a leader. In school when there was a group project, I would always just immediately get put in charge by my classmates. Since I watched my parents be entrepreneurs, when I decided to start my own business I really felt like I already knew what I was doing. I provide a wide variety of services from decor and balloons to full service planning. I specialize in corporate events and I would love to plan large speaking events. I am an excellent problem solver and thrive in a high paced environment. I am most proud of my ability to take something that can be stressful for clients and make them feel totally at ease. My goal is for them to be completely present in some of the best moments of their lives. I’ve planned dozens of events in my lifetime before I decided to make event planning my career from homecoming dinners, to surprise parties and everything in between. Now I want to create events and environments that inspire and energize.
Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
Truthfully? Facebook, but ONLY because of my tribe. I have a huge tribe of people in my corner, from family, other moms, friends, previous clients, and people in my networking groups who have my back and tag me in EVERY post looking for an event planner, decor, or balloons. I’ve done a lot of networking in the last few months and they show up.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
Absolutely, my goal is to never have to worry about money, ever again. I know money is a dirty word and people don’t want to talk about it, and I know that money as a motivator seems shallow. But really what I want is generational wealth that will afford my family the freedom to do what they want to do, for a living. I’m lucky that I’m in a position to build something that I love into the thing that would allow me to do that. I also love that being an entrepreneur affords me the flexibility to spend as much time as I want with my son, and will continue to allow me to do that for as long as he needs me. I will get to be the mom that I had. One who’s present, available, and involved in my son’s life.
