We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Haley Lafferty. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Haley below.
Haley, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Alright, so you had your idea and then what happened? Can you walk us through the story of how you went from just an idea to executing on the idea
The idea of All in Bloom Therapy has been a decade in the making. The goal of creating a holistic, trauma informed therapy practice started when I was 18. My best friend and I shared ideas of attending school to pursue this dream together. As we both attended different degrees and different schools, our focus for the future remained the same. After I graduated high school in 2013, I moved from Texas to Colorado to pursue my bachelors degree in Psychology. At this point, just like many other therapists, I simply had one motivator, I wanted to “help someone.” This concrete thought guided me through to graduation and I was soon accepted into graduate school for social work. It was in graduate school that what started as an idea to “help someone,” actually became way more complex and personal. Graduate school provided me with the opportunity to work with vulnerable populations and provided me with the space for personal growth. All in Bloom was no longer just an idea, but it was a future that carried depth and purpose. I was privileged to hear the stories of others and my take away remained the same; a need for validation, connection, and safety. I was exposed to systems that were simply not made to provide these necessities. I learned that “helping someone” can be sitting with them, right in that moment, and listening. I learned that my role as therapist was not to “fix” the problem, but rather empower clients to authentically be themselves. I learned that in order for clients to process and work through trauma, clients need to feel that they are in a shame free space and that the exposure to this can be incredibly healing for someone who may have never known what a space like that meant.
My best friend, better known as, Dr. Sligar, graduated with a PhD soon after I had completed my licensure hours to become a LCSW. We individually gained our own perspectives on therapy and when the time was finally right, we came back together to pursue the same dream we had when we were 18.
All in Bloom Therapy, is not a company that was created overnight and I think that is the beauty that it holds. The safe space we hope to provide for others has been developed over time and holds concrete values. All in Bloom therapy is trauma informed and meets each individual for where they are at. This therapy practice was just an idea when we were 18, but now its part of who we are and what we stand for.
Haley, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Haley Lafferty and I am the co- owner of All in Bloom Therapy. All in Bloom therapy is a client focused practice that specializes in trauma- informed and culturally competent care. Our approach to therapy is holistic, meaning we prioritize the whole individual and all aspects of their life. We believe therapy works best when the therapist and client create a collaborative relationship to meet the client’s unique needs. We value and celebrate diversity and believe that feeling safe is a basic human right. As a member of the LGBTQ+ community, I recognize and value the importance of an affirming therapeutic space. I enjoy supporting those with anxiety, depression, trauma / PTSD, women’s issues, grief, LGBTQ+ identities, couples, life transitions, relationship issues, and those in search of personal growth. I am a licensed clinical social worker and utilize EMDR, cognitive behavioral therapy, psychodynamic, dialectical behavioral therapy, and a solution focused approach.
I actively run a Women’s Empowerment psychotherapy group. This group creates the opportunity to gain insight on our needs, implement boundaries, share our stories, and connect with others. A therapeutic space that focuses on celebrating our successes and sharing our growth together.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
Our reputation lies within the therapeutic space with our clients and the connections we are creating within the helping community. We are continuously learning and love connecting with others. There is so much to be gained from listening to others’ personal journey and how they are meeting the needs of others. I believe part of our role as therapist is also providing clients with reputable, helpful resources.
We’d love to hear about how you met your business partner.
We met in our algebra class, sophomore year of high school and have been best friends ever since. Life pulled us into different paths, however, we remained strong in our connection. Creating a business is an even better experience when it is done with someone that is considered family.
