We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Haley Jones a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Haley, thanks for joining us today. We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
When I was young I ended up invest time into drawing. At around 7 is when I really just drew a lot and spent a lot of time creating art. It was like something had spark my creativity. I went from doing traditional art to graphic designs and spent many years just doing digital artwork. I knew I was going to pursue being an artist one day. As I got older I did not spend much time doing art or anything due to life and responsibilities of being a mother to 3 and running my dog grooming business that was featured not to long ago with voyage Houston. Believe it or not my dog grooming career has kept me motivated and being creative while maintaining a consistent income. I feel when styling a dog it is art in itself just a different of style of art and creativity. I will say as years go on in the career path I had chosen it does have massive wear and tear on the body and I started to sit back and question is this really what I want to do till I’m old and a sudden “no” popped in my head. I did some self reflection and I just thought why not try painting.. be an artist and use your creativity. Express how you are the world through your eyes so others can see it to. After moments of self reflecting I ended up pulling out my art supplies and just began to paint at first I had no idea what style paintings I want to do so I tested acrylic and oil and other styles of paint and I think the one that made me feel comfortable was oil painting.. I like the way you can manipulate it and change it and it is a bit more forgiving on mess up as to we’re acrylic dries up very quickly . After figuring out my style I like during my down times I am working on a piece to show off my creativity. Now do I was to pursue it as a career yes absolutely but a day at a time and I will surely get there

Haley, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Well my name is Haley or Kizzys which every you prefer I am 27 and have 3 kids and run a dog grooming business called Kizzys Mobile Grooming amongst running a dog groomer business I am also about to pursue my career as a professional artist. How I got into art is simple because I enjoy it and it makes me happy and I want people to see how I see the world in my paintings . My business is called Phoenix Artistry and I am a upcoming professional artist. I feel what sets me apart from everyone one else art is because it is my art and my perspective and my vision is completely different than anyone else. I want my clients to feel and see what I am trying to portray.. I want to question what is going through your head and why how did these images come to past or why did you create this and how does this make me feel or why does it make me feel. This way.
Alright – so here’s a fun one. What do you think about NFTs?
I’m not to familiar about NFTs but I know my mother and friend Eric has mentioned posting my work but I’d need to study up on it more before I comitt

How can we best help foster a strong, supportive environment for artists and creatives?
The best way society can really support artist is by sharing their business through social media since social media plays a big part in society. Also purchasing art from the artist and displaying it can be a huge advance since people are curious and will ask “where did you buy this painting” and word of mouth is a very powerful thing
