We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Haley Flippo. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Haley below.
Haley, appreciate you joining us today. Before we get into specifics, let’s talk about success more generally. What do you think it takes to be successful?
Passion and hard work. Success is measured differently for every single person but to me, it always seems to comes back to two things, passion and hard work. Measuring my success has always meant being genuinely happy in my career. I have struggled to find “the one” in business and this is because I have many interests. I am a soul who has lived 100 lives. I am in love with fashion and design, real estate, interior design, helping others, kiddos, animals, etc. so because of this, I have been involved in different industries and have had many different roles. The one thing that I have always known though, is that my dream is to be a business owner and create a brand of my very own. I have been a sponge in my professional career, watching and learning from leaders of mine and taking in the way businesses operate and one day, I knew it was finally my time. I realized that my passion always came back to fashion and design and I have grown up in the branding space and it hit me like a brick, this is what I love and that’s when I started.
To be honest, I knew absolutely nothing about how to actually start a business….I just knew this was what I wanted to do and I was going to figure it out. I researched and researched, called everyone I knew for advice and/or recommendations on who to speak with and how to start and I simply, just began. I stayed up all night long reading, learning, filling out applications and creating my foundation until my sweet sweet Dad sent me my very first lead. My resale license hadn’t come back yet, I didn’t have accounts set up with my vendors yet but I knew I would figure it out. I knew that if I was going to start, this was it, I had to jump in. I worked with my client like I had done this for years and while we worked through the process of her order, I received my resale license back, I finalized my accounts with vendors and I did it, I closed my very first sale! From there, I felt like I could do anything. I was passionate about my client’s, their branding and their branding experience and if I didn’t know the answers, that was okay, I felt the fire in me to figure it out. I have been in business now for almost two years in August and am growing! I have currently two employees and we are more passionate than ever. My “WHY” is my family. True success is being able to confidently tell my two babies that you can do anything you set your mind to as long as you’re passionate about it and your work as hard as you can.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I have grown up in the world of Promotional Products. My parents are both in the industry, my in-laws are both in the industry so, I was basically destined to be here. I have always been fascinated by fashion, different ideas, products and trends so when we would go to trade shows growing up, I was a kid in a candy store. Every step you took, there was a new booth with different products, it was amazing.
When I decided I was starting my business, Belleview Branding, I knew this was the industry that I wanted to be in because there were zero limitations and only opportunities. I had the freedom to show any product that I wanted – products that are trendy, unique, useful and something you would actually want to have your branding on, not an item you’re given that is often discarded right after you receive it. We search for inspirations and our favorite products online, in retail stores and boutiques every day so why not use search for those same items when you are looking to promote your company and/or events?
When I started Belleview Branding, the first item that I purchased to hand out with my information on it was lip balm. Why? Because that is a product that I am personally obsessed with and I always have to have it with me. I found one that is the exact comparable to Burt’s Bees and I wanted to see what the feedback would be. I still to this day have people who will reach out to me, almost two years later, saying they saw my information on the label of that same lip balm they received either personally or from someone else that I gave one to and they love it and want to know where to find it. Whether it is lip balm, drinkware, apparel or any other item, the individual who has it in their hands should only be saying “this is so cool, I want one” or else, why are we putting our branding on it? Our branding is a reflection of your business and I want to be the person who helps guide someone with the right products to promote their business – because I personally know how important that is.
At Belleview Branding, your brands impression is so important to us. We strategize with you so not only do we work with you to provide branded items to help promote your business but we work with you to understand your goals, who you’re looking to attract and how we can help you consistently be in front of them. We provide services to enhance your branding and logo design, we create and operate Company Stores for our client’s so products with their branding can continuously be purchased and we are consistently coming to you with the newest trends and branding ideas on where to go next so your business can always be represented and in front of the right individuals.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
In our industry, businesses like myself are everywhere. I had to find ways to stand out to compete with the power houses – the large Distributors who offer many benefits, are extremely well known and established. I did this by grinding and providing the best customer service I possibly could. I thought to myself, “what type of company would I want to work with for my branding?” I knew that to be successful, I had to create an environment for my clients where it did not feel transactional, they feel taken care of and are thrilled with the results. I have knocked on doors for days on end to introduce myself and my business and when I speak to a client, I listen, bring creativity to the table immediately and make it very known that I will do anything I can to help them. That motivation has driven me to build my business in way where client’s are satisfied, recommending our services to their friends and colleagues and I have now a wonderful book of client’s who I grind for every single day who have become like family.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
The day that I launched Belleview Branding, I hung up a picture of an article headlining “The Fall Of An American Icon – Apple Computer, once the hip flagbearer of high tech, is in sad decline. There are lessons aplenty” and next to this, a later article with a headline in 2018 that states “Apple becomes world’s first trillion-dollar company” and wrote “NEVER GIVE UP” at the top.
We can do anything we set our minds to and even though yes, that is a lesson that we are taught, sometimes you have to remind yourself and unlearn that just because I am starting NOW, that does not dictate where I stand currently and where I can be. I can compete with other companies who have been doing this for years, I can determine what client’s I am working with no matter if I am a one man show or if I have 50 employees. I can create Belleview Branding to be the top Distributor in the industry, I just have to believe in myself and my ability and not feel discouraged through any challenge that might be thrown my way.
