We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Haley Carter. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Haley below.
Alright, Haley thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to hear the story behind how you got your first job in field that you currently practice in.
My first position in marketing was with a company called Doctor Referred, Dylan Pond was the owner of this Dallas based company. Doctor Referred was a multi-specialty marketing company seeking skilled medical liaisons to represent specialists. I reached out to Dylan requesting an in person interview knowing I was nowhere near qualified, I knew if I could get an interview he would see that my confidence, and perseverance would make me an asset to the company. I had to get creative, I knew my résumé wouldn’t be as impressive as my in person interview…
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My passion is supporting patients and representing great doctors!
This passion stemmed from when I was young.. As a child we had major health issues in my family, we leaned on doctors and specialists for everything. As a young adult, I once again found myself needing specialists to assist with with several complicated pregnancies. I remember feeling helpless at times, not knowing who to go to was a horrible feeling.
I knew I needed to be an advocate for patients and doctors, I just didn’t know how.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
Throughout my life I’ve always worked hard. I knew if I wanted something I must earn it. Therefore, I never took anything for granted. We were taught to work hard, care for others and help out when you can.
My move to Dallas opened so many doors….
Doctor Referred was the opportunity of a lifetime, this company was all about showcasing doctors based on procedures and outcomes! It was exactly what I was looking for..
In 2010 after several applications my persistence paid off. Dylan was kind enough to start me at 5 hours per week. However, I wasn’t concerned, proving myself is what I do best! In 2012, I moved to a management position.
Representing great doctors in the best interest of patients is what I pride myself on. It’s easy to sell something you believe in, something you’re passionate about. It’s not work when you love it!
This was just the beginning……
Have you ever had to pivot?
I knew that representing doctors was what I wanted to do. However, I knew that representing doctors in this capacity was a bit different than I had envisioned. I didn’t just want to be placed to an account. My job was to represent specialist of all types. Represent the best of the best!
In 2020, I decided to go out on my own opening Link Medical Marketing, the name says it all. My model links doctors and patients to ensure smooth process and great outcomes.
Feedback is key and outcomes are everything!
