We caught up with the brilliant and insightful HADEE. a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
HADEE., thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Are you happier as a creative? Do you sometimes think about what it would be like to just have a regular job? Can you talk to us about how you think through these emotions?
That’s an interesting question. The short answer is no. With no disrespect to a career path that could be considered more traditional. The longer answer is, I think every artist has experienced some form of doubt in themselves. The ones who atleast have most likely used this feeling as fuel for continuing to further develop their skills. I do believe that in order to continue to grow, you do need to be self-aware of where you are. Otherwise, you basically have no gauge on how to track whatever success means to you. So, even in those moments of self-doubt and sleepless nights, the desire to pursue this career and have it amount to nothing is worth far more than giving up on it.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’m an Alt-Rock musician based out of Miami, Florida. I’d like to think that my sound stems from my environment and the musical influences I’ve gathered in my time here. This stems from 80s post-punk & new-wave, glam rock, and a touch of classic film noir.
However, I love everything from the 40s to 80s and then I have my modern favorites. Film is definitely a major source of inspiration. I tend to watch a lot of old Hollywood movies. I just love the aesthetic of them, as well as the simplicity and drama. Classic horror films are for sure a favorite.
“Every scene has a soundtrack”.

How can we best help foster a strong, supportive environment for artists and creatives?
This is an interesting questions considering everything that’s going on currently with the Writers Guild of America strike. It serves as an example of a lack of care to so many artists and creatives whose livelihood is dependent upon this work. The majority of artists throughout the world do not end up reaching the same heights as the top ones do. That’s just a fact and the risk associated with said life-style. Ofcourse factors such as ones own definition of success can come into play but that’s not what I’m referring to. There are many artists who cannot survive strictly off their passion, but they persist through those storms. This is not only in reference of creatives, this is universal in any occupation or career path. With that being said, better ways to nurture and promote growth in creative industries are necessary if we are to see it further envelope itself within our culture. I believe AI technology has its place in the creative sphere, but I’m not sold on it replacing things altogether.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The opportunity to share something that you created and have it be received with a sense of relation to someone who could be a complete stranger. That’s a concept that is very interesting. No success of any kind is owed to us. So to play shows and see a cult grow in such a grassroots manner is pretty cool to see through. As an example, J.L.G and I host shows down here in Miami. If you don’t know his music, definitely check it out (https://open.spotify.com/artist/1BgrepOwhNVOoDJsJ8ZLT5?si=b5zqW8X-TDOHBB4ou6mc_Q) We actually have a one year anniversary show coming up on September 15th for an event called “Freaky Friday’s” that we host at The Sandbox in Miami Beach. We have a whole list of bands that play (including us) and local vendors. Seeing the scene come together, interact, and build upon its sense of community is really what motivates us.
