We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Haas Almahdi. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Haas below.
Haas , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Have you been able to earn a full-time living from your creative work? If so, can you walk us through your journey and how you made it happen? Was it like that from day one? If not, what were some of the major steps and milestones and do you think you could have sped up the process somehow knowing what you know now?
I wouldn’t say it was full-time from day one. In the beginning, it was just me putting in hours after work, learning the craft, studying production, and trying to find my sound. There were no placements, no real income, just consistency and belief in where it could go.
Over time, things started to shift. I committed to a routine, creating daily, building relationships, and treating it like a business before it paid like one. That led to real opportunities and eventually placements, including placements and collaborations connected to Lloyd Banks. Moments like that validated the direction I was heading in, but more importantly, they showed me that consistency compounds.
Financially, it’s been a process of building. I’ve generated income from production, collaborations, and direct opportunities, while continuing to reinvest into my craft and positioning. I still balance responsibilities outside of music, but the gap is closing because the foundation is stronger now than it’s ever been.
Some of the biggest milestones weren’t just placements. They were mindset shifts. Understanding that nobody is coming to discover you, you have to put yourself in rooms. Learning how to network, how to move with intention, and how to create opportunities instead of waiting for them changed everything.
If I could speed up the process, I would’ve focused earlier on relationships and visibility just as much as the music itself. Talent matters, but access and consistency are what move things forward. I also would’ve treated it like a business from day one, understanding publishing, splits, and long-term value sooner.
Right now, I’m in a transition phase where the creative work is no longer just passion. it’s becoming something sustainable and scalable. The goal isn’t just to make a living from it, but to build something that lasts.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’m a hip-hop record producer focused on modern boom-bap, blending gritty, traditional elements with a more current, polished sound. I go by Haas Almahdi, and my work is rooted in consistency, discipline, and a long-term vision of building a catalog that stands the test of time.
I got into production from a genuine passion for music, but early on I realized that talent alone wasn’t enough. I spent years studying the craft, developing my sound, and putting in consistent work daily often without immediate results. That phase taught me how important it is to stay disciplined and keep creating, even when there’s no validation yet.
What pushed things forward was shifting from just making beats to approaching it like a business. I started building relationships, networking intentionally, and putting myself in the right environments. That led to real opportunities and eventually placements, including placements and collaborations connected to Lloyd Banks. Those moments helped solidify my position and showed me that the work was translating at a higher level.
As a producer, I provide high-quality, industry-ready production for artists who are serious about their sound and their brand. I focus on creating music that feels timeless but still competitive in today’s landscape. A lot of artists struggle to find production that gives them identity. Something that stands out but still fits within the culture and that’s where I come in. My goal is to give artists a sound that elevates them, not just something generic.
What sets me apart is the combination of consistency, intentionality, and long-term thinking. I treat every record like it matters, and I’m always building, not just for the moment, but for the catalog. I also understand the importance of positioning, relationships, and moving strategically, not just creatively.
What I’m most proud of isn’t just placements. it’s the fact that I’ve built momentum from the ground up. From having no visibility to creating real opportunities and working with artists at a higher level, every step has come from staying consistent and believing in the process.
The main thing I want people to understand about me and my work is that I’m serious about what I’m building. This isn’t a phase or a side pursuit, it’s something I’ve committed to long-term. I’m focused on growth, on creating impactful music, and on continuing to elevate both myself and the artists I work with.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
Building my audience on social media was less about chasing numbers and more about building positioning and consistency. Early on, I wasn’t getting much traction, but I stayed consistent with posting, refining my content, and understanding what actually connects with people.
A big shift for me was treating social media like an extension of the brand, not just a place to post beats. I started focusing on storytelling, showing the process, and creating content that builds curiosity and demand. Instead of just uploading music, I made sure everything had intention behind it. Whether it was a POV-style video, a behind-the-scenes moment, or something that made people feel like they were part of the journey.
Consistency played a major role. Posting regularly, staying visible, and engaging with the right audience over time started to compound. At the same time, I focused on building real relationships behind the scenes, connecting with artists, producers, and people in the industry. Social media opens the door, but relationships are what move things forward.
Another key factor was understanding that perception matters. How you present yourself, how you position your work, and how consistent your brand feels all influence how people take you seriously.
For anyone just starting, my advice would be to stay consistent, focus on quality over randomness, and think long-term. Don’t just post, build a narrative. Show your growth, document your process, and make people feel like they’re watching something develop in real time. That’s what creates real engagement and long-term supporters.

Are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
One of the biggest things I wish I understood earlier was how important the business side of music is. Early on, I was focused almost entirely on the creative side, making beats, improving my sound, or but I didn’t fully understand publishing, splits, ownership, and how money actually flows in the industry.
Learning those things later on changed how I move. It made me more intentional about the deals I take, the relationships I build, and how I position my work long-term.
Beyond that, mindset played a huge role. Concepts from books like Think and Grow Rich and teachings around discipline, belief, and consistency helped me stay locked in during periods where there were no results yet. Understanding that there’s always a delay between effort and visible success helped me stay consistent when most people would quit.
I also wish I focused earlier on relationships and access. Talent is important, but being in the right rooms, having the right conversations, and building genuine connections is what creates opportunities.
If I could go back, I would tell myself to treat it like a business from day one, invest time into learning how the industry works, and prioritize relationships just as much as the craft.
