In 2008 Guy founded Across the Board Talent Agency (ATB), a renowned boutique agency with offices in Los Angeles, New York and Israel. Under Guy’s leadership, ATB represented top tier talent in television, film and theatre securing lead roles in acclaimed projects including Narcos, Shameless, Queen of the South, The Inbetween, Oprah Winfrey’s Greenleaf and feature films including Operation Finale, Triple Frontier and Paranormal Activity, as well as a variety of national commercial campaigns such as Amica, AARP, Toyota and Wendy’s. In 2019, Guy sold ATB Talent, and founded Shushu Entertainment, a talent management and production company based in Los Angeles, California.
Some of the struggles that I encountered in the past were being surrounded by negative individuals aka dream killers. You know the type, the glass is always half full. The biggest challenge for me was to get rid of these people and surround myself similar minded and motivated/driven people. I feed off of other peoples energy, so it’s super important to me to be surrounded by the right type of people. I can recall several times that I had some creative ideas and I never pursued them because I allowed others to talk me out of my ideas. At the end of the day, ideas are a great starting point, but if we don’t act on those ideas, they are worthless.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.

Shushu Entertainment is a talent management company which represents actors, writers, directors, and content creators. Our production side handles the development, finance, and execution of slate of projects. We current have numerous projects in various stages of development.
“Everything we do at Shushu is tailored to developing content with purpose” says founder Guy Kochlani. “My vision of having the transparent ability to greenlight emerging projects and infuse them with life is what drove my move from agency to management and production. I am beyond excited for what the future holds and my passion for working with both domestic and international talent is at the heart of Shushu’s identity.”
Shushu is Hebrew slang for doing something quietly behind the scenes, which is what Kochlani and his team seeks to do as they want their actions to make the noise. Shushu Entertainment is headquartered in Los Angeles and provides personalized talent management, focusing on long-term success strategies, to a select roster of clients. The production arm focuses on developing new content for TV, both scripted and unscripted, as well as film and live performances.

Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
Growing ones clientele in a talent management and/or agency comes down a one several factors: 1)Do good work for your current clients – the word definitely spreads when your clients book major gigs. Almost automatically after each major booking, we get a sea of requests from talent looking for a new management.
2)Word of Mouth – Having a good network also contributes to meeting new talent. Agents, Managers, Lawyers, CD’s, Executives, etc. all refer talent once you have established good work ethics and great results.
3)Time – the longer you have been in the game, the more good will your brand acquires.
4)PR and Social Media – must have a presence in the trades and in social media.

We’d love to hear about how you keep in touch with clients.
Staying in touch is not an easy job, especially if you represent a large roster. The secret is having a great team that you work and collaborate with. No man is an island, we all need talented people that surrounds us. The way I like to work is maintain a small personal roster and focus on major career movements for my clients, while my team handles the day to day tasks and duties. Therefore, I get to have more time to stay in touch with my roster.
