We recently connected with Gustavo Fuentes and have shared our conversation below.
Gustavo , appreciate you joining us today. How did you learn to do what you do? Knowing what you know now, what could you have done to speed up your learning process? What skills do you think were most essential? What obstacles stood in the way of learning more?
I learned to craft my career by starting as a street artist in middle school and early high school. That is where I discovered how tape could help me create clean lines, simplifying my process while giving me more time to think of new designs and styles. My work has always been rooted in sacred geometry, but at the time, it was entirely self-explored without any prior context or formal study.
Looking back, I think studying sacred geometry more deeply and earlier in my journey could have helped me refine my craft faster. However, I genuinely enjoyed the organic, self-taught process. It shaped the artist I am today, and I would not change it.
The most essential skills in my journey have been creativity, patience, and problem-solving. Obstacles included a lack of resources and formal guidance in the beginning, but those challenges pushed me to innovate and develop a unique approach. They have been an integral part of my growth as an artist.

Gustavo , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I am an artist based in Los Angeles who specializes in creating art pieces that can be hung, as well as large-scale murals designed for both interior and exterior spaces. My work is versatile, ranging from personal commissions to public and corporate projects, and I take pride in bringing unique and impactful designs to life.
My journey into the industry officially began in high school when I received my first commissioned order. At the time, I did not realize I wanted to pursue a career as an artist, but I was fortunate to have people who appreciated and supported my work. Their encouragement and interest in buying my pieces opened my eyes to the possibility of making art my profession.
What sets my work apart is its foundation in sacred geometry, combined with my freehand technique that allows for intricate and one-of-a-kind designs. Whether it is a standalone piece or a large-scale mural, my goal is to create art that resonates deeply with viewers while transforming the spaces it inhabits. I work closely with my clients to bring their visions to life, solving creative challenges by delivering tailored designs that align with their needs and aesthetic preferences.
One of the things I am most proud of is the diversity of my portfolio, which includes collaborations with major brands and projects that have reached a wide audience. My ability to continuously evolve while staying true to my unique style is something I value greatly.
For anyone considering working with me or following my journey, I want them to know that my art is not just about creating visually striking pieces; it is about building connections and telling stories. Every project I take on is approached with dedication, passion, and a commitment to delivering something meaningful.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
I built my social media presence by sharing images of my projects, which quickly gained a lot of attention. At the time, I felt that my work had a unique style that many people had not seen before, especially since I was creating large-scale tape murals in the LA River. These projects stood out because of their size and the unconventional medium, and they naturally drew interest.
As I continued to share my work, I realized people were not just interested in the finished pieces. They wanted to see the process behind them. That is when I started recording full timelapses of my creations. These videos allowed viewers to see the evolution of my work from start to finish, which really resonated with them and helped me reach a much larger audience. This approach not only showcased my art but also gave people insight into the effort and creativity behind each piece, which helped me connect with them on a deeper level.
For anyone starting to build their social media presence, my advice is to focus on sharing content that highlights your unique perspective and skills. Consistency is key, as well as being authentic and showing your audience who you are and what drives your creativity. Engage with your followers, listen to their feedback, and experiment with different types of content to see what resonates the most. Social media is a powerful tool, and when used thoughtfully, it can help you reach an audience that truly values your work.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
My goal or mission with my creative journey is simply to keep existing and creating for as long as I can. I know that sounds like a simple goal, but life flies by so quickly. I am only 30, yet I already feel as if time is moving faster than I ever expected. I have been having an incredible time building my career, and I do not want this amazing experience to slip away.
I want to work as hard as possible and create the most extraordinary pieces I can, always pushing myself to evolve and share my designs with my followers. I truly love what I do, and that passion drives me to keep exploring new ways to express my creativity and expand the reach of my work. My mission is to keep growing and transforming my art into something even larger, continuing to create in ways that inspire and connect with others.
