We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Guruhustle. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Guruhustle below.
Alright, Guruhustle thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Can you take us back in time to the first dollar you earned as a creative – how did it happen? What’s the story?
I probably earned a few cents here & there before this moment, but the moment I really made any money was when I sold my first painting. No, it wasn’t Picasso – money, but it was still money! Someone valued my Artwork enough to pay for it. This made me realize I had something to offer straight from the heart .

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I was a competitive figure skater in my formative later years always having a great intrest in lines shapes and of course, the very important skating dress, I have always been a visual artist, noticing things many do not and seeing things from a different perspective. I spent most of my twenties to fourties with my 5 children raising them did not leave much energy but one day their father died and it was one of the lowest saddest scariest times in my life and I decided to start painting to heal from my grief so when they would fall asleep I would paint. I began painting more and selling my paintings and even got a few commissions durring those years The moment I am most proud of was being selected for The Honolulu country club representing Mr.Fred Hemmings , he was 1968 World surf champion and US senate minority leader , I was asked to take his board shorts and republican tie and turn into Art. He came to the Art show that will always be one of the highest moments in my life.
Today I am working more with clothing design & sewing. I currently sell new and gently used fashionable clothing on the poshmark platform under the name Guruhustle in the near future I will be selling more kaftans and kimonos made & designed by me with vintage Indian fabrics each sale will benefit orphanages in India.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The best part of being an Artist is I get to say things with Art and Fashion that others can’t or won’t.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
Life happens and it happens to All of us. Smooth roads do not make skillful drivers and I use my pain, sadness, and loss to create, in fact for most Artist’s creativity is born out of pain and sadness
