We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Gunnar Thorn . We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Gunnar below.
Gunnar , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
I would say around the age of seven is when I really got interested in wanting to learn how to play the guitar. I started taking guitar lessons soon after.

Gunnar , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I started at a very early age being interested in music. I have a lot of family members that play different instruments as well. I always knew from when I was very young I really wanted to play in a band and have music in my life as much as possible. I believe having internal drive is what separates many musicians from others. It’s a tough business and many inspiring musicians get discouraged early on. The key is to keep believing in yourself no matter what happens or regardless of what the popular current trends are. Trends change all the time, which is why it’s important to stay true to who you are.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
There’s nothing like creating a piece of music. It’s one of the most rewarding things for me personally. To be able to share a part of your soul with others is an amazing gift. Especially when fans tell you a story about how a certain song helped them through a tough time in their lives. It’s important to remember to always be humble and take criticism well. Music is an art form. There is no right or wrong. Not everyone is going to love your music, but as long as you love what you’re doing that will shine through to a certain percentage of people listening.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
Nowadays it’s pretty easy for anyone to get noticed on social media. There are so many platforms that are available to showcase your talents. I would recommend to any young band starting out to get a high quality demo recorded and mastered professionally. Then there are companies you can pay without having a record deal that will put your music out on certain platforms. I would suggest getting on as many social media platforms as possible and network with other local bands. Then eventually start networking with groups that are not local and have large followings in other states. Also playing as many shows as possible to really get your band name out there.
