We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Guillaume B. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Guillaume below.
Guillaume, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My father and his father always had cameras around their neck when it came to spending time with family. Much like every dad, right? Always with a camera or video camera at the ready to capture those childhood moments. Over time, this blossomed into a passion of mine after my father gifted me my first camera. I held onto it and shot occasionally for special occasions through college and graduate school. It would soon prove to be the most solid anchor I had in my arsenal. After graduating law school, I was hitting a huge passion road block failing to pass the bar exam. My (now) wife was the first person to truly recognize my talent and suggest I pursue photography full time. Was it the best idea as covid was swarming the world? Maybe not. However my work would prove to be the exception as it was the first true opportunity for my business to explode. So here I am today!
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
There is no particular goal or mission driving my creative journey. However, I felt this question was important because it illustrates just how passionate I am and how that has become the major inspiration for driving my work today. Don’t get me wrong, in any aspect of life, missions and goals both near and distant are essential. But for me, the greatest driving force that is the most resilient has to be my raw and unadulterated passion to capture the beauty of this life.
Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
Marketing. It’s been a tough growing lesson understanding the power it takes and gives. You will dedicate a large portion of your income to this cause but it will be directly correlated to how fast you grow. In the beginning, it was an obstacle I tried to avoid at all costs. However, it is inevitable and most certainly a necessary evil. How well you do it is how well you play the game.
