We recently connected with Guilherme Possobon and have shared our conversation below.
Guilherme, appreciate you joining us today. To kick things off, we’d love to hear about things you or your brand do that diverge from the industry standard.
I think my work stands out because I embrace the idea that everyone has a unique perspective. Even if someone tries to imitate another, it’ll always be different and that’s the beauty of it. We each bring our backgrounds and our individual ways of seeing the world, and for me, photography is a beautiful way to reveal that personal viewpoint. I love capturing details that often go unnoticed. Sometimes I’ll spot something and think, “Wow, that’s incredible,” while others around me don’t see it the same way. New York is a perfect canvas for this kind of art. It’s filled with people from everywhere, each with their own way of walking, speaking, or smiling. Every day is a new opportunity to capture something unique and unexpected.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’m currently a Creative Director in advertising, coming from an Art Direction background, so for over 20 years, photography has been part into my daily life and work. It was always about guiding the shot to get the result I wanted for the campaign I was producing. But in 2019, I moved from Brazil to Dubai for a new role, and being in a completely different world from what I was used to, really shifted my perspective. I became more aware of the little details around me. That experience pushed me to invest in my first professional camera and dive into photography myself. Walking around the streets and capturing what I saw became my way to explore and through a lot of trial and error, I found my style. What makes me proud now is catching those spontaneous, beautiful, and unique moments that might otherwise go unseen if they weren’t frozen in time through my lens, free from any judgment.

Have you ever had to pivot?
A major pivot in my life and career was realizing that I’m more interesting when I’m authentically myself. Coming from a background where I didn’t see people like me represented in media, whether on TV, in magazines, or elsewhere, I grew up thinking success meant following other people’s ideas. This made me feel that my unique perspective wasn’t “right.” But over time, I recognized that people are tired of seeing the same thing. What resonates is authenticity.
This realization changed how I approach my advertising work and also my photography. Now, I let my instincts lead. If I want to capture a moment in black and white today, I go for it. Tomorrow, I might choose color. If I’m drawn to portraits one day and landscapes the next, I trust that direction. Authenticity is my strongest asset and I think it keeps my work fresh and real, offering something different in a world that craves originality.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
For me, the most rewarding aspect of being an artist and creative is knowing that my work can touch people’s hearts and spark an emotional response. When I create something that resonates (whether it brings happiness, provokes thought, or opens someone’s mind) I feel I’ve achieved my purpose. Art, for me, is all about evoking emotion and finding beauty in unexpected places. I’m always seeking to reveal the hidden beauty in everyday things, even in something as simple as a trash bin, a bird or an expression in someone’s face. To show a fresh perspective, to bring a different layer of meaning to ordinary moments. That’s the real joy I find in creating.
