Alright, Gricelda thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Earning a full time living from one’s creative career can be incredibly difficult. Have you been able to do so and if so, can you share some of the key parts of your journey and any important advice or lessons that might help creatives who haven’t been able to yet?

I been fortunate to make a full-time living from my small business. Making a decision to leave your regular full-time job for almost 15 years wasn’t an easy decision. I asked myself so many questions: Am I ready? Do I have what it takes to take off? Will I be able to make a living out this? There were so many worries and uncertainty that goes through your mind. But I’m here to tell you that everything is possible if you have your heart setup for success. From day one, I was ready and eager to start this journey and help my clients get the most beautiful memories they deserve.
Now, I can tell you that I am living my dream! I get to spend family time while I enjoy doing what I love to do the most.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

My name is Gricelda Torres with Gricelda’s Photography. I’m a wedding photographer serving in San Antonio, Texas and beyond. Photography has been in my background for over 20 years. My love for photos started while working for Kodak for 8 years, then The Picture People and other photo labs.

Gricelda’s Photography specialized on capturing beautiful and sweet moments for our couples while providing the best client experience. I want my couples to feel comfortable and confident that they will be taking care of every step of the way. I’ll go above and beyond for them anytime and every-time.

I think the most rewarding feeling as a photographer is when you receive the incredible reviews and text messages letting me know how thankful they are and how much they love their photos. For me, that’s all that matters! Client experience is top priority for me and knowing I exceeded that is very rewarding.

One of the biggest milestone as a wedding photographer was traveling to Germany as a second photographer for my sweet friend Anna Kay from Anna Wright Photo as well as Lake Como, Italy and Paris, France for a vow renewal.. This was a dream come true! Having someone to trust you to go overseas for a wedding is a huge win for me.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?

I feel a vendor’s connection is a key to any business. Having to work with some style-shoots has helped me personally build a strong relationship and building the trust you need from them to refer you to their clients. Always give your BEST! Nothing less is acceptable in my opinion. Don’t be afraid to connect, reach out to them and that’s how you’ll see results. You may get some No’s in the road and that’s totally okay. Trust me, there is always someone willing to open their hearts and work with you. My advice is to don’t give up!

Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?

I am a strong believer that if you do an amazing job every time, that opens doors for future word to mouth recommendations. For me, that has been huge in my business. Also, I attend to wedding shows and open houses to create some traffic and increase possible bookings. However, like I mentioned before, word to mouth recommendations is the best way to increase clientele.
