Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Greta Schmid. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Greta, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Folks often look at a successful business and imagine it was an overnight success, but from what we’ve seen this is often far from the truth. We’d love to hear your scaling up story – walk us through how you grew over time – what were some of the big things you had to do to grow and what was that scaling up journey like?
I remember the day I decided to start a PR Agency. I always knew I wanted to do something meaningful and work with brands, I just needed to figure out how to implement my dreams and make them a reality. I had worked at several PR agencies already and was the Media Director at a larger agency for a couple of years when I had one small beauty brand I had been in contact with since the beginning of my career reach out to me. They asked if I’d be interested in helping them secure some press, and I jumped at the opportunity to start on my own. Even though it was a small client with an extremely low budget, I saw it as an opportunity and a gateway to get to where I ultimately wanted to be. I started RAGDOLL PR with one tiny client and from there, it’s been the most incredible uphill journey.
Once I got RAGDOLL PR to the point that I had 10+ clients and needed help, I started slowly hiring a team that I could rely on and who were just as passionate about the industry as I am. I never received investments or relied on any excess capital, I never went into debt—I simply did what I knew how to do best and slowly grew RAGDOLL PR and slowly added to our team. Now we are an agency of 50+ clients and continuing to grow and scale. We work with a variety of clientele from fashion, beauty, lifestyle and wellness brands, to MDs, fitness brands and experts, med/laser spas, and more.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I am a passionate, happy, motivated woman–proud to be where I am today. I love everything fashion, beauty, lifestyle, wellness, and am obsessed with what I do. I started working in the industry while in Graduate School at USC and on my first day at my first internship, I knew that this is what I wanted to do with my life. I am dedicated and have always excelled and provided excellence in everything I do. When I put my mind to something, I take my time and do it right. I am extremely detail-oriented and that has always helped me excel.

We position our clients as leaders within their space and help drive traffic to their websites which ultimately helps with their bottom line and sales.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
Passion, honesty, and transparency have definitely helped us build our reputation. I get on the phone with new potential clients and from the moment we start talking, they trust me. I am honest, I love what I do, and they can feel it. I am excited about what we do and what we can do for them, and they can feel that too. Of course, results and providing the best possible service to all our clients is also extremely important and we make sure we are securing the best press possible for all of our clients on all fronts. A combination of the above plus having the right team alongside me, to execute, is crucial and has been tremendous in client retention and keeping our clients happy and continuing to grow RAGDOLL PR.
Any thoughts, advice, or strategies you can share for fostering brand loyalty?
Communication is key to a successful PR x client relationship. We chat with our clients daily, sending different opportunities their way, sharing new thoughts, new gifting initiatives, facilitating various interviews, sharing placements we generated, etc. We constantly keep our clients up to date on what we are working on and where we are at in the process, and our clients love the level of communication our team offers.
