Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Gregory & Tyler Ingersoll. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Gregory & Tyler thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?
Dreamhouse Salon was born from a childhood dream that was bigger than just owning a business—it was about owning a piece of the magic we’d admired growing up. You see, we both grew up on opposite sides of the country but shared one unique dream: owning a Barbie Dreamhouse. Not because we just loved the toy, but because Barbie represented so much more—confidence, kindness, fearlessness, and the freedom to be whoever you wanted.
As boys, we were often told Barbie wasn’t for us, that the Dreamhouse and what it symbolized was off-limits. But that only made the dream stronger. We wanted to create a space where everyone—no matter gender, background, or style—could feel empowered to express their true selves freely. That’s the foundation of Dreamhouse Salon.
For us, this salon isn’t just about hair—it’s a manifestation of those values we admired in Barbie. It’s a place that celebrates individuality and breaks boundaries. When we came together to build Dreamhouse, we knew we were solving a problem we both experienced: salons that didn’t fully embrace diversity or individuality, or offer the kind of tailored, artistic, high-quality services that truly celebrate each client’s uniqueness.
Greg brings over a decade of experience and a reputation as one of Boston’s top highlighting artists, specializing in effortless, sun-kissed balayage and flawless extensions. He’s worked alongside the best in the business—from Newbury Street to South Florida—blending Southern hospitality with top-tier artistry. Meanwhile, Tyler’s journey took him from Vidal Sassoon London to becoming a certified Goldwell Master Stylist and Master Colorist with deep expertise in extensions. Together, our passion for precise, personalized service and boundary-pushing creativity powers Dreamhouse.
What excites us most is the chance to transform not just hair, but confidence and identity. We don’t just do balayage or extensions—we create experiences that elevate natural beauty while empowering every client to feel fierce and authentic. Dreamhouse Salon is where hair dreams come true because it’s built on a dream of inclusivity, artistry, and unapologetic self-expression.
We believe that when you feel seen and celebrated for who you are, that radiates beyond the salon chair. And that’s a dream worth chasing every day.

Gregory & Tyler, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Our journeys into the hair industry began early and grew from deep personal passions that continue to fuel our work today.
For Greg, the beauty industry was always his calling. Even as a boy and into his teens, he spent hours crafting new looks on his mom, experimenting with styles and colors. After moving to Boston, he enrolled at Empire Beauty School to formally train and launched his career apprenticing with some of Boston’s Best of Boston stylists. That hands-on experience shaped his artistry and work ethic, setting the foundation for what he’s built today as a top highlighting artist and extension expert.
Tyler’s path was about creative expression from the start. Beauty school offered him a way to channel his artistic vision and individuality. Like Greg, Tyler enrolled at Empire Beauty School and began his career at one of the area’s top salons, where he sharpened his skills and found his passion for precise cutting, color, and premium extensions. His training continued internationally and across the country.
At Dreamhouse Salon, we offer a full range of services that are 100% tailored to you. From custom balayage—our specialty in creating natural, sun-kissed dimension—to premium hair extensions that add length and volume with flawless blends, our goal is to elevate your natural beauty in a way that feels effortless and uniquely yours. We solve the problem of impersonal, cookie-cutter salon experiences by delivering personalized care with top-tier artistry in a welcoming, inclusive environment.
We are most proud of the Scholarship Program we developed when we owned our Boston salons—a program dedicated to supporting LGBTQIA+ cosmetology students. Each year during PRIDE month, we awarded $2,000 scholarships to students pursuing their dreams in hairstyling, alongside offering apprenticeships in our salon. This program allowed us to give back directly to our community and share the gifts that this career has brought to us. We hope to soon bring this scholarship initiative to our newest location here in Fayetteville.
We’re also deeply proud of the community we’ve built along our journey and the incredible opportunities we’ve had to work with exclusive and celebrity clients. For anyone considering Dreamhouse Salon, we want you to know this: your individuality matters here, your hair dreams are valid, and we’re ready to help you shine with confidence and creativity.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
During the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, we faced one of the toughest challenges of our careers. We owned a group of three salons across Boston, and when the lockdown hit, it felt like everything stopped overnight. Our entire team—including ourselves—were suddenly unemployed, and the future looked uncertain. But giving up was never an option.
To support our stylists and keep the business afloat, we got creative. We gathered every product in the salons and transformed them into small gift bag sets, which we sold through social media and hand-delivered right to our clients’ front steps. This not only kept our connection with clients alive but also generated enough profit to pay our employees during those uncertain times.
From there, we launched a subscription box program, partnering with other local small businesses to include full-size shampoo, conditioner, styling products, and treats, gifts, and coupons from community partners. Each month, our subscribers received a curated box, keeping them engaged and reminding them that Dreamhouse was still there, ready to welcome them back.
When the city and state finally gave us the green light to reopen, our salons were booked solid for three months—and those months became the most profitable in our business history. We believe this success was a direct result of the experience we created, the quality of our work, and the genuine relationships we maintained through social media. Staying visible and connected made us the first choice for our clients once lockdown lifted.
This period taught us invaluable lessons about resilience, creativity, and adaptability—qualities we carry with us every day at Dreamhouse Salon. Even when it would have been easy to give up, we chose to pivot, innovate, and keep moving forward. Our ability to adapt quickly and think outside the box remains one of our greatest strengths, and it’s what allows us to continue serving our community with passion and excellence.

Are there any books, videos or other content that you feel have meaningfully impacted your thinking?
Early in our careers—especially managing our Boston salons—we often led from a place of fear, loss, and control. The pressure to keep everything running smoothly sometimes made us react rather than lead with intention. After closing those salons, we both recognized the need for deep personal growth to become better leaders and business owners.
While living in South Florida, we discovered a transformative weekend course focused on connecting with your inner child. This course, which runs every eight weeks, invites past students to return as community members, continuing their personal development while helping others on their journeys. It was one of the hardest emotional experiences we’ve ever undergone, revealing parts of ourselves we never fully saw before.
We’ve been part of this community for over a year now, and this work has profoundly changed how we see and understand people—our clients, our employees, and ourselves. It’s taught us to lead with empathy, security, and thoughtful reasoning instead of fear. The confidence, strength, and poise that Barbie represents—a key inspiration for Dreamhouse—are qualities we embody in our leadership today.
Dreamhouse Salon was born from this inner work, as a way for us to stay connected to our inner child and create a space where our guests and staff can do the same. We believe life is about joy, fun, and the wisdom to nurture yourself, even as an adult. It’s about being as kind to yourself and your team as you would be to a child because, at the core, we’re all just children in adult bodies.
This philosophy shapes everything we do—from how we manage our salon culture to how we create meaningful, empowering experiences for everyone who walks through our doors.
