We were lucky to catch up with Gregory Jones recently and have shared our conversation below.
Gregory, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?
“I have had the privilege of working with a diverse range of young people, spanning ages 6 to 30. The experiences I gained ignited a fire within me and fueled my passion to start my own business. My journey began when I found myself working with youth facing extreme challenges—struggling with issues such as fighting, robbery, truancy, carjacking, gang violence, and homelessness.
Growing up in Mississippi, I had never encountered this level of adversity among young people. However, after moving to Cleveland, Ohio, I was confronted with these harsh realities. I felt compelled to act, to be part of the solution. I knew I had to offer the next generation a brighter future.
I believe that life is given to us for a reason, and each of us has a purpose on this earth. Through my work, I strive to help young people push through adversity and realize their potential. It’s my way of giving back and making a difference.”
“As my passion grew, so did my vision for the future of the youth I served. I developed a wide variety of opportunities for the young people in my program. What set my approach apart was the comprehensive support I provided. This included access to housing, higher education, scholarships, employment opportunities, and connections to trades and other essential resources. By addressing multiple needs, I aimed to give these young people the tools and support they needed to build a better future for themselves.”
“In closing, my ultimate goal has always been to instill a sense of pride and create a family-like atmosphere within the program. By fostering this environment, I aimed to give my guys not only the support they needed but also a sense of belonging and dignity as they worked toward a brighter future.”

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Over the years I volunteered with inner-city youth and young adults. Sharing with those I encounter, life was given to us all for a reason. To believe we was put on this earth for a reason. What’s your purpose!
A Second Home for You is a non-profit organization founded by its Executive Director, Gregory E. Jones. Its primary functions are to prevent homelessness by providing transitional housing and supportive services to emancipated young men who are between the ages of 18 and 25. A Second Home for You also focuses on community development by connecting the young men in its program to educational and employment resources to become self-sufficient individuals that work and live in a thriving community network. We give a Faith-Based Atmosphere with understanding today’s pressure and reality. In 2021 we created a scholarship under the program and has awarded 11 young adults those scholarship. When you donate towards this program it stands out from all others. We have taken on and faced the extreme challenge with those struggling with issues such as education, employment and homelessness. We are proud to say we may be a small organization, but operating and turn out big results! We have seen the impact and we are looking to keep doing big things for our next generation! In closing, no donation is too small to do big things for others!
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
I’ve always enjoyed being around people of all ages, but social media was something I hesitated to embrace. I wasn’t one to enjoy taking pictures or posting updates. So, I shared my concerns with some younger folks in my life. They were kind enough to explain why it mattered and even offered to help guide me through the process. Now, even though I’m not perfect at it, I’m out there learning and growing.
To others who might feel the same, I encourage you to be open about your journey. If you’re taking pictures with others, ask for their permission before posting, and share with them why it’s important to you. When you post, try to share things that align with your values—words of encouragement, motivation, or anything that could help someone else. Keep your focus on what matters to you and your mission.
Above all, stay genuine and kind. Lead with integrity in what you share, and let your posts reflect your compassion and good character.

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
I guess you could say I’m a bit old school. To me, volunteering and serving others has always been important. I’ve always felt that giving your time is one of the most valuable things you can do for someone else. Over the years, I’ve volunteered in different ways, and through that, people got to know me and my heart. So, when I eventually started my own business, they already had a sense of who I was and what I stood for.
Building those relationships over time has been such a blessing. I truly believe that when people see your character—when they see that you’re genuine and willing to give of yourself—they’re more likely to support you. It’s not just about business; it’s about trust, and I’m grateful for the way that trust has grown with others along the way.
