We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Gregory Gordon a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Gregory, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. If you could go back in time do you wish you had started your creative career sooner or later?
How it all started….back in 2001, I knew I wanted to be an actor my junior year in high school. I was given my first opportunity to be a part of a local commercial for a clothing store called Trendsetters back in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Soon after I had my first son at the age of 17 after graduating high school. I attended Tulsa Community College and studied in the theater program. It wasn’t really what I was expecting so I dropped out after less than a year after trying to balance being a young dad, studying acting, and keeping a job. I realized that acting would have to take a back seat for a while. I knew I would eventually get back to it again.
After life’s many ups & downs, I moved to Dallas, TX in 2007. Then taking some time to settle, I began attending KD Conservatory for Performing Arts in 2009. I studied acting there for 2 years and received my Associate’s degree in Acting & Performing Arts. After meeting my wife & having another baby we packed up and moved to Los Angeles in 2012. This is where i felt like I was in the best position to start taking my acting career more serious. Ever since then I’ve had a consistent career in acting booking feature films, short films, music videos, & video games.
Looking back, I wish I would have taken my career more serious and not have wasted so much time. Knowing what I know now I would have bypassed community college & my associate’s degree and came straight to California to pursue acting. I do feel had I started sooner I would be a lot further in my career. But I also know that everything happens for a reason…….makes for a good story.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
Hello there, my name is Gregory Gordon and I currently live in Los Angeles, CA. I moved to LA 1o years ago with my family to pursue my career in acting. Since being here, I have been given many opportunities to be a part of some great projects. The one that I am most proud of was being on a sitcom called In The Cut. Experiencing those moments pushed me to want more for my career. So I’ve been taking an alternate path and diving into social media more, and working on building a presence & platform there. My mission is to show more of my creative side and gain exposure to a bigger audience & industry professionals.
If there was one thing I wanted you to know about me it would be that I’m a firm believer in “letting the work speak for itself!”

Looking back, are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
Absolutely..the resources I wish I had were the acting classes, the workshops, and school. Back in Oklahoma there were really no resources for acting, which is really what pushed me to want to move to LA.

Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can provide some insight – you never know who might benefit from the enlightenment.
From my journey, I can say that when you’re entering the space as a creative you’re going to have to get comfortable being uncomfortable. You’re going to be in a space where a lot of people are not going to fully understand your journey or the decisions you make.
