We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Gregory Austin a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Gregory , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Who is your hero and why? What lessons have you learned from them and how have they influenced your journey?
My Mom, she was so inspiring and encouraging and I’ve adapted much of my personality and approach to life the same way. She had an infectious smile and personality and drew people to her with just that. She has by far had the greatest influence in my life personally and professionally. I recall when she was an art consultant for a prominent local art company she asked me to join the business which I did and she was so successful and it fueled me to be successful and match her energy and enthusiasm for the business. We had become a great mother and son duo as result of us being in business together. When I started my personal business I did it in honor of her and legacy in my life. She will always have an imprint and impression on my life.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
GCA Unlimited Apparel was created to share an empowering message of inspiration and hope through the art of design and fashion. I have been in business for two years and have met some of the most Amazing people in the world through my inspirational slogans. My mom was the inspiration behind my Brand. She was so inspiring and brought so much hope through her smile and personality and it has been her life that has fueled me and my personality as a business owner.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
Yes, being a entrepreneur is not easy and if you’re not mentally strong you can easily be discouraged. I’ve always been a person that’s been able to encourage myself in challenging times. I have also had to be creative in ways to generate a new audience for my business through social media, marketing and advertising. I remember being in my shop and thinking of new strategies to bring in more customers and opportunities to share my inspirational messages.
Have you ever had to pivot?
I had to pivot and increase my vendor events I was doing per month from one to two. It was a game changer in the number of New Customers I gained and sales I accumulated as a result of that one extra event per month.
