Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Gregg Farrington. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Gregg, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What do you think matters most in terms of achieving success?
What I think it takes to be or become successful is being happy with what you see in yourself in being a creative. Goals that are written down or even thought of will propel you to reach your path to success. As success does take time, it also does not lend itself to be rushed. I also develop[ed my success by setting stepping stones that allow me to reach the height of what I consider to be success for me.
Gregg, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I have 12+ years creative experience across a wide range of industries from broadcast, luxury real estate, hospitality, consumer packaged goods, and professional services. Brands I worked with include Court TV, Bounce TV, ION, Discovery Networks, John Knox Village, RE/MAX, and many others.
I started my career as a graphic design intern in New York City after obtaining my Bachelor of Science degree from Full Sail University in Digital Arts and Design.
After 10 years of being in the creative industry from working for different demographics I decided to move forward to obtain my Master of Fine Arts in Media Design to understand more design research and design thinking.
Currently, I am the Lead Marketing Design Manager for Scripps Networks. I oversee conceptualizing and creating digital key art content for original programming shows and movies spanning in a wide gamut of original crime docuseries to drama to comedy entertainment shows. This include shows like “Johnson” on Bounce TV, “Act Your Age” on Bounce TV, and “Someone They Knew with Tamron Hall” on Court TV.
What I am most proud of in what I currently do is to create the visual stamp for each original show to our viewers for the network. Visualizing a static image to advertise and inform the overall story of a show is not an easy task.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
One particular goal or mission that is driving my creative journey is to design with purpose. Whether it is designing for a specific demographic that I am drawn to or even develop ways to improve how the design or creative is perceived drives my creative journey. Sometimes it pulls me into a different genre but ultimately I am still designing for something I am passionate about.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect of being a creative is not seeing my work in public but getting the feedback from when they do see it. This allows me to push forward in my creative abilities, develop my skillset to combat any inconsistencies and also learning what I can do to improve on that communication.
