Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Greg Zopke. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Greg , appreciate you joining us today. Earning a full time living from one’s creative career can be incredibly difficult. Have you been able to do so and if so, can you share some of the key parts of your journey and any important advice or lessons that might help creatives who haven’t been able to yet?
Yes, I have been able to earn a full-time living from my creative work in music production, but it wasn’t like that from day one. My journey began with a passion for Pop Music, particularly the vibrant sounds of LA, which inspired me to dive deep into every aspect of music production.
Starting out was challenging. I had to juggle side gigs, from factory work to retail, to support myself while I honed my craft. Over time, I built a portfolio by perfecting my skills in composition, arrangement, mixing, and mastering. Gradually, I started landing more significant projects and working with well-known artists and labels.
A major milestone was partnering with BMG US, which allowed me to work on high-profile projects and further establish my reputation. Reflecting on my journey, I realize that proactive networking and seeking out mentors earlier could have accelerated my progress. Investing in high-quality equipment and a professional studio setup sooner would have also been beneficial.
Now, my goal is to be recognized as a top music producer, known for my dedication and versatility. While accolades like Grammys would be wonderful, my true passion lies in refining my craft and collaborating with talented artists. In summary, earning a full-time living from my creative work has been a rewarding journey that required patience, hard work, and an unwavering commitment to my passion for music production.

How did you build your audience on social media?
Building my social media audience began with sharing behind-the-scenes content, project snippets, and music production tips on platforms like Instagram, YouTube, and Twitter. Consistency was key; I posted regularly and engaged with my followers by responding to comments and hosting live Q&A sessions. Collaborations with other artists and influencers helped expand my reach, while high-quality, visually appealing content kept my audience interested.
For those just starting, my advice is: Be Authentic, Stay Consistent, Engage Actively, Collaborate.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect of being an artist is seeing the impact of my work on others. Knowing that my music can evoke emotions, inspire, or bring joy to people is incredibly fulfilling. Additionally, the creative process itself—transforming an idea into a finished piece of music, gives me immense satisfaction. Collaborating with talented artists and continuously refining my craft also keeps me motivated and passionate about what I do.
