Alright, Greg thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Alright, so we’d love to hear about how you got your first client or customer. What’s the story?
When I first started my own business, I decided to draw on past experience I had in the painting industry and branch out on my own. Launching a business and getting the first clients can be challenging, but I did what I do best- connecting with others. I started talking with contractors I knew and meeting new ones. I introduced myself to the team that had recently started a renovation project on the condo buildings where I was living. I told them about the painting business I was starting and asked if they needed the service. They told me that once all my paperwork was filed to initiate my business to let them know. I got this done quickly and circled back to them and had my first job. They were so happy with the work I did and when they moved onto the next project- they invited me to go along. I did and it led to continued work and a thriving business that I have run now for over 20 years even while relocating twice between 3 different cities.

Accurate Pro Painters LLC focuses on providing residential and commercial painting services for homes, businesses and multi-family dwellings across the Pacific Northwest of Washington state. Many people come to me when they know that it is time to update or refresh their living space or office. Sometimes they know exactly what they want and other times they need some ideas or guidance. I love being able to advise them along the way, helping them decide what they want the end result of our work together to be. Then my team gets to work. We bring both attention to quality and stellar customer service. Our crew is not only dependable, but they are also kind, respectful and a pleasure to be around. We take our job of beautifying your space seriously, making sure that the end result is one that you are excited about and that reflects your taste and style.
How do you keep your team’s morale high?
Right from the start of my business, I needed a crew and began to hire a team. Managing people can be a very challenging but rewarding experience. I believe that the two most important aspects to it are listening to others and showing that you genuinely care about them. Everyone goes through challenges in life and sometimes we all need a sounding board or someone who understands. I try to be there for my employees, as a great mentor, trainer and also to listen or give advice. I appreciate all the work that they do and want them to know that they matter. I try to maintain a great connection with them and it shows- one of my employees has been with the company almost since it started over 20 years ago in 2003. Now that is great retention!
What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
One of the best sources of new clients for me has been referrals. I am meticulous about my work and making sure that clients are extremely satisfied with the quality of the painting services and customer service that we provide. Clients typically rave about it with their friends and family, which leads to more opportunities. Many times, the neighbors even notice the great work that I do on the house in their neighborhood and then want theirs to look great too! I pride myself on building great relationships with the clients and making sure they are raving fans. To this day a large percentage of my business comes from these client referrals.
