We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Greg Moran. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Greg below.
Greg, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Risk taking is something we’re really interested in and we’d love to hear the story of a risk you’ve taken.
When I was given a diagnosis of ulcerative colitis back in 2015, my health had been steadily degrading for over a year. In that time, I went from living a “normal” life to being essentially bed-ridden and in constant, chronic pain at 24 years old. When I received the diagnosis, I was hopeful that the doctors would have an answer for how to heal my body. In my follow up appointment, I asked about diet, nutrition, and herbs. However, after my second question about nutrition, the gastroenterologist told me, “Diet has nothing to do with it. There is no cure for this condition. You will be on these pills for the rest of your life, so take your pills and get used to it.”
Deep down, I knew this was wrong. I had no reason to not listen to this doctor other than a deep knowing that there must be another way. What has ensued from that moment on has been leap after leap after leap, leading me into the realms of holistic and alternative health, and ultimately on a pathway to my Heart and Soul.
In the years following the diagnosis, I completely switched up my diet, deciding to strictly follow the Specific Carbohydrate Diet (SCD) which was designed specifically for UC and Crohn’s disease. Through many ups and downs, improvements followed by flare-ups, I slowly began to see my health returning. I was determined to stick with the SCD diet as I was experiencing firsthand the power of conscious eating and nutrition.
During this time, I also began exploring yoga and meditation, as well as acupuncture and chiropractic adjustments, for their ability to calm the body and enter into more restful states. These became physical practices that perfectly mirrored the internal physical changes that were taking place through diet and nutrition.
In the fall of 2018, I again took another leap with deciding to do a 3-month cannabis oil treatment. Following the Rick Simpson Oil protocol, I began to make and take my own cannabis oil (RSO). What unfolded in this space is beyond words and I can only describe as a miracle. By the end of the 3 months, I was having healthy, formed bowel movements at regular intervals with no blood and little-to-no pain. This experience opened my eyes to the true power of cannabis as an extremely effective herbal medicine. In wanting to understand how exactly the RSO healed my body so rapidly, I came across the Endocannabinoid System, a natural system in the body whose function is to regulate almost ALL other body systems, including the nervous system, immune system, GI tract, and brain health.
I have not had any gastrointestinal issues since the end of the RSO treatment, and have since encountered so many other holistic healing modalities, most of which are now related to the psycho-emotional layers. Science is now beginning to show that there is a intricate dance between our psycho-emotional state and our physical state, and that physical disease is actually the end result of unresolved psycho-emotional dis-ease.
When I encountered Breathwork in 2021, I was again at a crossroads and decided to take a leap, going all-in on studying and training as a Breathwork Facilitator. A little over 15 months later, and my life looks nothing like it did before. Breathwork has shown itself to be one of the most powerful ways of accessing our subconscious mind, where our unresolved psycho-emotional wounds and stories are largely stored, granting us the opportunity to heal these wounds and rewrite these subconscious programs in ways which serve rather than inhibit. It is the most powerful modality for healing on all levels I have ever encountered and I am immensely grateful everyday that this is the work that I get to share with others.
All this said, these leaps would not have been possible without the help, guidance, and support of countless people in my life. The love these individuals shared with me throughout my journey has been a massive part of my healing and I am forever grateful. This is why Life Coaching is such a passion of mine, as I now have the opportunity to guide and support others in taking the leaps to create greater levels of overall health as they align with the life they truly desire to live.
Sometimes, you have nothing else to go on other than a feeling. I encourage you to follow that feeling and take the leap. You never know what magic you might encounter.

Greg, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My journey started in 2014 when I began to experience severe gastrointestinal issues. Over the next year, my symptoms progressively worsened and in October 2015, I finally received a diagnosis of ulcerative colitis. After being told by the doctors that there was nothing I could do about it, I embarked on a journey to heal my body naturally. Through learning about and implementing lifestyle changes in diet/nutrition, cannabis oil (Rick Simpson Oil), yoga, meditation, mycotoxin detoxification, and other holistic health modalities, I was able to successfully heal my body. in 2018.
However, once I had healed my body, I realized there was more under the surface waiting to be met. These deeper layers were found in the psycho-emotional levels of the body, which led to the habits, behaviors, and chronic states of stress which led to the physical manifestation of disease. In the years of learning about how to heal these deeper layers, I explored the worlds of Nature Connection, sound healing, and energy healing, deepened my practices of meditation and yoga, and eventually came across Breathwork. Through Conscious-Connected Breathwork, I was able to make massive leaps in healing and resolving these deeper psycho-emotional layers, clearing stagnant energies and emotions, and accessing greater levels of Heart-centered embodiment.
Breathwork also allowed me to realize that Nervous System Regulation is the key to just about everything we do in life. Through regulating the nervous system, we are able to create safety in the body which then allows us to explore our emotional blockages and subconscious stories that largely control our day-to-day lives. In this way, we are able to effectively heal deep wounds and traumas and rewrite our subconscious stories to be life-affirming, rather than self-limiting.
My business, True Health Awakening, is centered around the idea that your body holds all the answers. You are your own best healer and when you begin to regulate your nervous system, you are able to heal and grow in miraculous ways.
My main offerings are Ceremonial Conscious-Connected Breathwork Journeys (both group and private 1:1) and Life Coaching.
Through my Breathwork offerings, I hold space and guide you, via your breath, into the depths of your Being. Through connecting to your breath in this way, you activate the parasympathetic nervous system (rest, digest, restore), creating safety and presence in the body, which then allows you to clear stagnant energies and emotions, heal past wounds and traumas, and reclaim your personal power. The Breathwork Journeys are held in a safe ceremonial container in which all parts of you are welcome, allowing you to freely express all that arises in the Breathwork space. This is truly life-changing work. One of the main pieces of feedback I hear after journeys is ” this is the first time I have ever felt so present/quiet/embodied.”
Through my Life Coaching offerings, I work one-on-one with clients, focusing on nervous system regulation to create safety in the body. Once safety has been created, we then bring our awareness to and illuminate any psycho-emotional blockages and self-limiting stories or narratives which may be present. Using various embodiment practices and exercises, including Breathwork, I help clients to clear these blockages and rewrite these stories, allowing for them to begin to move towards the life they truly desire to live. My job as a Life Coach is to consistently guide clients back to themselves, for I truly believe that their body holds all the answers. In approaching my work in this way, clients gain greater levels of self-trust and feel more empowered to follow their intuition.
My Breathwork offerings occur both in-person and online. I facilitate Breathwork Journeys around the San Diego, CA area, as well as various retreats, workshops, and events around the world.
My Life Coaching offerings take place in the online space, with the option of in-person Breathwork Journeys if you live in the San Diego area.

Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
The most effective strategy for growing clientele has definitely been just getting out there and meeting people. Hosting events/workshops, going to community gatherings, meeting others and talking about our interests, passions, desires. This is the best way to meet others who are interested in the work that I offer. Social media can be a great tool for this as well. There are a lot of amazing people I’ve met through the social media space. However, nothing compares to the in-person experience of being around other people, of feeling their energy, sharing laughter and tears, and growing a community.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
Throughout the years of my healing journey through ulcerative colitis, there were countless times where my symptoms seemed to be improving, only to be met with massive flare-ups and setbacks. It hurt every single time. Feelings of doubt, grief, sadness, and thoughts such as “this is too much” and “I don’t know if I can make it”. And every single time, I did make it through to the other side of the flare and almost always found myself doing better than before. Sometimes there was some rebuilding that had to be done and while it was definitely difficult every single time, eventually I began to realize that it is also only temporary. My mantra during the most difficult times became “this too shall pass”, and while I allowed myself to be fully present and feel all that was happening, the vision I had for myself was worth whatever difficulties I had to endure along the way. This journey back to health taught me about letting go of how I thought things should go and surrendering to what is present now. It taught me about trusting in the process and being consistent, even if my present reality was showing something different. It taught me to be loving and compassionate towards myself, even when I was at my lowest. It taught me the importance of having a community that could support you. And it taught me about how strong and resilient the human body is, how we are our own best healers, and that we are always right where we are supposed to be in any given moment. Now, I am grateful for having gone through all of it because I have been able to take this experience, and the resiliency I realized in the process, into every other area of my life.
