We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Greg Mendolia. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Greg below.
Greg, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Let’s start with education – we’d love to hear your thoughts about how we can better prepare students for a more fulfilling life and career
STEM careers have ever-growing international competition. We need to motivate our kids at the earliest possible age if they are to thrive in future technologies.
Greg, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I have been an international tech exec for 4 decades, and have had the privilege to see how other countries prepare their children for technical careers, especially in Asia. If our kids are to compete, they must gain a curiosity about STEM at an early age. Their school work would be much easier and meaningful if they first have some hands-on experience with all things technical. I firmly believe that kids “have to love it before they can learn it”.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
In a word, Covid. We never included that in our business plan, and signed a lease 2 months before Covid hit. We had no choice but to push forward.

Have you ever had to pivot?
We traffic down mostly due to Covid, and partly due to poor administrative support at public schools, we may still have to pivot in order to afford to stay in business to support our local children. Every day is a challenge and on the edge of financial early termination. But with some creative changes, and local support, we will remain here for our local families, for years to come.
