Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Greg Madhere. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Greg, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Do you wish you had started you own firm sooner?
I knew since the age of 18 I wanted to start my own business. In 2003, I made the leap of incorporating my business, Lowgic, Inc. Back then I was immersed in the technology world and wanted to provide IT services to small companies. Over the years I had some starts and stops, bouncing back and forth between W2 employee life and independent contracting. I didn’t make the choice to go all in with my practice until 2023, and took the chance to rebrand as Lowgic Partners. There’s been a big pivot since then and things evolved as I did. While still geared towards helping small, growing companies, the service focus is now on fractional Client Engagement Management for professional services technology firms. Although I’d like to think now that I’m a bit older, and hopefully wiser, things will be smoother, I can’t help but wish I had jumped in with both feet at least 19 years ago. More energy, and more time on my side back then are some of my current regrets. However, I don’t believe I had the maturity, confidence, acumen, or even belief system that I have now that I could make things happen. Still, I wouldn’t mind going back in time and coaching my younger self like a big brother. I should have taken more chances before my daughter was born. But they say kids give you motivation, and it’s certainly part of my drive now.

Greg, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’m a 20+ year IT veteran with a passion for entrepreneurship and extensive experience in delivering high value projects for all types of organizations, from large corporate enterprises, to innovative scrappy startups. I also love coaching budding business owners on executing their ideas into fruition.
Raised by a single, immigrant mother from Haiti, I grew up in Brooklyn, NY, where I developed my work ethic and professionalism, cutting my teeth in the New York concrete corporate jungle. I started my IT career on a help desk. Then I “graduated” to desktop support services. Circa 2003 I founded Lowgic as my vehicle for consulting, with the vision of building out a tech consulting firm. I’ve pivoted multiple times over the years. I found myself in quality assurance, before switching to project management where I went on to build a long career working across several industries including television, video games, healthcare, software, travel, and financial services just to name a few. I rebranded as Lowgic Partners in 2023 with the intent of building strong affiliations with synergistic partners.
Throughout my career, I’ve successfully led a variety of multi-million dollar project engagements as a contractor and consultant. Working in this capacity has allowed me to develop a broad view of management strategies and exposure to a wide range of technologies. I hold PMP, CSP-SM, CSPO, SAFe PO/PM, and SAFe SA project management certifications. This has enabled me to draw from a pool of best practices to best serve my clients. Leveraging agile and predictive project methodologies when necessary, I’m laser focused on outcomes and value creation.
I spent the last couple of decades trying to figure out how I could combine my personal love for entrepreneurship, my career experience, and my passion for helping other entrepreneurs find their way. Those who know me well, know my bias and that I can be quite a cheerleader for good humans who are trying to build something. Using video game terminology, I’ve always considered myself more of a co-op player, than a single-player mode kind of person. Hence, why I thought a rebrand to Lowgic Partners was necessary and more in alignment with where I wanted to go and how I wanted to grow.
Lowgic Partners helps founders of professional services technology firms generating 7-figures in revenue with teams of 5–20 who are stuck in daily operations and unable to scale. We provide fractional Client Engagement Management support so leaders can focus on strategy instead of service delivery. We help clients diversify revenue, reduce founder dependency, and regain control of their business. Our mission is to give overextended CEOs their time back, without requiring full-time hires.

Can you talk to us about how you funded your business?
I totally bootstrapped my business. When I decided I desperately needed to get in alignment with my entrepreneurial-self, I was fortunate to have had a former client to get started with. With that initial deal, I was able to stock away some reserves, and when the opportunity came up to pick up my second client, I was able to float that reserve to cover my initial payroll. I had been working diligently to improve my credit, and after about 9 months of invoices, I went and applied for a line of credit just in case I ever needed it for working capital.

Are there any books, videos or other content that you feel have meaningfully impacted your thinking?
This is a tough one. There are so many books. Early on, “7 Habits of Highly Effective People” really had a lasting impact on me when it comes to interpersonal relationships. “Escape from Cubicle Nation” by Pam Slim spoke to me when I was feeling trapped. Gary Vee’s “Crush It” really got me pumped when it was first released. I also appreciated Michael Gerber’s perspective with the “E-Myth Revisited”. The list is fairly long, but I’ll include Daniel Pink’s “Drive”, “Anything You Want” by Derek Sivers, “So Good They Can’t Ignore You” by Cal Newport, “Making Work Visible” by Dominica Degrandis, and “Four Thousand Weeks – Time Management for Mortals” by Oliver Burkeman. I love the books that focus me on being a better human since I work with humans. I think that’s still vital in a tech space that’s pushing us towards artificial “colleagues” and “friends”.
