Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Greg Brooks. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Greg thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Alright, so you had your idea and then what happened? Can you walk us through the story of how you went from just an idea to executing on the idea
The original idea of my brand started during Covid due to all the injustices happening to black people in America. I wanted to create a pro black brand that showed I stood behind my people and against inequality. It was all about buying black and supporting black. I had slogans and ideas but I needed a logo to get started. I worked with my brother on the logo and the original designs were all made with the original logo on the front. It took me a few months to create a logo and print shirts and hoodies. I created a website with all the inventory and information about the brand. After reflecting on what the brand stood for, I wanted to make it more inclusive. I found an efficient way to add more designs without increasing physical inventory. I made all new designs to speak for those who feel unspoken for or underrepresented. The brand is for all minorities racially, geographically, sexually, etc. We just want everyone to feel included that does not feel accepted in “American” society. We are working on more designs and ways to grow our brand more in the future.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is Greg Brooks. I owned a clothing brand called #SueMe. I got into clothing by just enjoying fashion and putting in the work to learn how to design and print clothing. What sets me apart is that I actually care about people more than anything and just want people to feel included and represented. I am proud that I am creating a voice for minorities and those who feel like they don’t have a voice.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
It has been hard at times growing my audience. What has kept me going is followers on social media commending the brand and speaking out on social issues.

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
I decided to pivot from a pro black brand to minority based brand. I want more people to feel included and not like you have to be black to be apart of our movement. We want to empower anyone who feels like they don’t have a voice amongst the majority.
