We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Greg Booth. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Greg below.
Greg, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. What’s been the best thing you’ve ever seen (or done yourself) to show a customer that you appreciate them?
The best part about owning Gym Molly is that I get unlimited supply of our products. I love the gym and working out, and it’s a joy to get a boost every day. When we first started, I wanted our customers to love our products just as much. For the first year, we added free blender bottles with every purchase. We didn’t tell the customers. We didn’t post about it on social media. We just did it to help the customer have a better experience. We still do free giveaways today, but not as often as every extra dollar we have we reinvest into our products. But just giving customers a little extra is why we started our business. So much fun to beat expectations!
Greg, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
At 41, I can’t work out as long or as hard as I did when I was younger. But, our products help make the best of what I have! I still hit PRs in the gym. Usually I make a goal for myself every year. This year, my goal was to do a muscle up for the first time. Happy to report I did it recently! Usually I work out with one of our RTD Cans, but to give me the extra boost I used Gym Molly PRO. Worked like a charm!
How did you build your audience on social media?
Social media is so important for all our stakeholders. It allows a brand to live online in real time. We focused on consistent effort at the beginning to create online buzz. For the first 2 years, we posted on Instagram every single day at 8am. It was exhausting trying to keep up with the content and captions. But we were able to build a solid fan base and grow from there. Consistent effort and feedback from customers is so helpful for any brand!
How’d you think through whether to sell directly on your own site or through a platform like Amazon, Etsy, Cratejoy, etc.
We sell across a variety of online platforms. Amazon has been a great partner for us. Their national warehousing system is second to none. You pay a bit extra for it of course, but customers across the US get our products within two days. Speed increasingly is the name of the game, and Amazon has been a great partner here.
