Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Green Eimaj. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Green , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?
Black Vegan Street Market is so impactful to the community. It consists of plant-based food, local black owned businesses and amazing entertainment. From the fashion show to the black music month tribute to Lil Kim or Ruff Ryders, it’s definitely ground breaking with explosive creativity. I created this market to challenge the community to eat plant-based twice a year. We celebrate father’s Juneteenth weekend and the holidays the Saturday before Thanksgiving.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I started my plant-based journey 5 years ago and I wanted to share with everyone how eating more plants transformed my mind, body and my family. I saw so much change in myself. I know as a young woman we endure so much trauma and I strongly believe we have the power to heal ourselves. It must start with the things we put into our bodies. I partnered with local vegan restaurants to create social events. This allowed the community to have a place to ask questions, voice concerns or even just express the lack of plant-based options in our communities. The Green Eimaj brand was founded by me, Jamie Caple. This brand created strong relationships with the community to ensure amazing plant-based products, businesses and services would always be available and implemented in the community.
How did you build your audience on social media?
Collaborations and partnerships with local businesses In neighboring communities are a must. It shows unity in the community. One of my first collaborations was with a black-owned / woman owned plant-based juice bar and eatery. Our relationship lead to an even bigger partnership and I became the social media ambassador, influencer, content creator, marketing manager for nearly all upcoming projects. I was able to create lasting relationships and was able to pivot with many projects serving the plant-based community.
How can we best help foster a strong, supportive environment for artists and creatives?
Show up. Buy a ticket and gift it even if you are unable to make it. Share. Share. Share. Don’t be afraid to let everyone know that an upcoming event or project is meaningful and impactful.
